Democrats will NEVER appoint a pro-second amendment judge, end of discussion.
Casey, you misunderstand my position, I think. I am well aware that the battle lines are drawn and this is now a Democrat and Republican divide. No question.
I think that the only real long term solution is a fundamental change in how people look at .Gov, not "winning the next election" or even 10 elections.
People genuinely need to be more concerned with individual rights AND responsibilities or we will be fighting this on an election by election basis.
That's Bullshit. This is not only a fundamental Right, but also one of fundamental Responsibility.
You are spot on, we need to teach our kids to use critical thinking and always side with individual rights.

Great comment from Reddit on the larger implications of this:
Make no mistakes - City of Seattle won a monumental victory today, which goes way way way beyond guns. What WA State Supreme Court said is that if you don't like something, you can simply tax it out of existence.
Want to establish rent control but the state law prevents you? Easy-peasy, simply tax any rent increase over 1% a year at 90%, or, better, any rent amount beyond "equitable" at 100%.
Etc.
Now, of course, it goes both ways. The countdown begins until Spokane City Council figures out some essential abortion medication or tool to tax to make abortion financially infeasible to perform within its limits...
Abortions now have 10000% tax on them.

I think that was the point of the lawsuit?

Upheld? Yes. Cost effective no. Hey lets spend $50 per gun to get $25.

So, voting taxes are illegal, because voting is a right... But taxing guns is legal, because ???????

Replace "guns" with "voting" and it's been long established that any tax is illegal.
Done. 10 second analysis. Illegal.
These "lawyers" are examples that give my profession such a bad name. Unethical morons.
SCOTUS - if it reviews this, which it likely will - will stomp it down.

People are forgetting that this isn't a "Tax", but a business fee added to a transaction as a stipulation of doing business. The business owner doesn't have to pass on the fee to the buyer.
Still, not right.

Changing the label on any type of charge above the actual value ion an item does not change what it is.
" Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's. "
This crap has been going on for a few thousand years too many.
Government is a Ponzi scheme to take money from people that work for a living to support a bunch of lazy power hungry parasites.
As government matures, it grows like cancer, and threatens the life of the host workers.
Eventually, out of a desire for self preservation, government is eliminated in an " Here's the new boss, same as the old boss, only new and improved, not to mention cheaper to feed ", aannndddd - the cycle of life starts all over again.

Amen, brother.
But our Founding Fathers designed a system that would finally, FINALLY free the oppressed commoners from the yoke placed upon them by aforementioned parasites. It has worked probably even better than they had thought it would because it hasn't required a new revolution every few decades.
Unfortunately, I don't think that the Founding Fathers figured on the parasite classes becoming so powerful and entrenched. Smart too... Buying the people's votes with handouts and special interest groups.
Clever.

So you can vote for the same politicians who bring this to WA?
