http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-new ... s-gun-tax/Unbelievable. It was 8-1. Even if you buy their bogus reasoning that a tax is not a "regulation" part of the law says "ANY OTHER ELEMENT RELATING TO FIREARMS."
I wonder if these idiots who pretend to be judges have even READ the preemption statute.
RCW 9.41.290
State preemption.
The state of Washington hereby fully occupies and preempts the entire field of firearms regulation within the boundaries of the state, including the registration, licensing, possession, purchase, sale, acquisition, transfer, discharge, and transportation of firearms, or any other element relating to firearms or parts thereof, including ammunition and reloader components. Cities, towns, and counties or other municipalities may enact only those laws and ordinances relating to firearms that are specifically authorized by state law, as in RCW 9.41.300, and are consistent with this chapter. Such local ordinances shall have the same penalty as provided for by state law. Local laws and ordinances that are inconsistent with, more restrictive than, or exceed the requirements of state law shall not be enacted and are preempted and repealed, regardless of the nature of the code, charter, or home rule status of such city, town, county, or municipality.
It's pretty clear this is yet again the cost for us ignoring the court and letting the liberals pack it.
Already we have the horrible McCleary, Charter schools and Hirst decisions. And now this.
We need to take the court back. We had great challenger candidates last time but the libs dumped tons of cash into those races. Enough is enough.

The problem now lays with the open door that this just created. I can see a flood of other cities and counties getting on this train and riding it.

Wow. This state is officially hopeless. Time to start looking for a new place to live.

Hurts my brain too.
I'd love to see the legal profession automatically disbar lawyers in these positions if they can't read and apply plain laws. Like our good ole AG pal, who clearly struggles with following the law.

Hopefully the result of Seattle's tax will illustrate the outcome and cities will not go after it.
I'm all for bootlegging ammo from Oregon.
Dumb fuckheads!

I just can't get past that this is more of a societal thing than a political issue. It seems like just (almost?) a matter of fate that this particular bit of Controllism ended up in the D side of the coin instead of the R.
Controllism exists in both political parties, even if it is worse in the D's right now.

keep fooling yourself, all you need to do is look up who appointed these judges. Remember the SCOTUS decision on Heller Vs DC? If it were not for the Republican nominated Justices we would have lost the Second Amendment
Democrats will NEVER appoint a pro-second amendment judge, end of discussion.

I have been saying this for years.
If Constitutional law is subjectively ignored like the Clownshow known as the WA State Supreme Court can do this, ignore plain English, then they can do anything.
And they are.
I self-censored what I think should happen to them.

Casey, you misunderstand my position, I think. I am well aware that the battle lines are drawn and this is now a Democrat and Republican divide. No question.
I think that the only real long term solution is a fundamental change in how people look at .Gov, not "winning the next election" or even 10 elections.
People genuinely need to be more concerned with individual rights AND responsibilities or we will be fighting this on an election by election basis.
That's Bullshit. This is not only a fundamental Right, but also one of fundamental Responsibility.

If the Left/Press (the same thing) doesn't wake up to reality, people will be fighting each other. In a very UN-civil way.
