50 people tearing down a statue doesn't represent the 1 million people in Durham!
Don't like it? Put it on a ballOt. Vote.

LOL. Fixed ballet to ballOT!

The same have already made rumblings in the past about demanding removal of Thomas Jefferson monuments. This thing isn't going to stop with confederate monuments, it will extend to all other "white supremacist" historical figures and possibly even lead to groups like BLM questioning the validity of the constitution, since it was after all written by white men, some of whom owned slaves.

You honestly think this is about a few Civil war statues? The Left in this country is unhinged and dangerous. Violence is a means to their end, which is control over all aspects of your right to choose how you live. If it doesn't fit their narrative, it is rascist and fascist, and deserves all forms of violence to destroy it.
This destruction and outright hate of anything not falling into the SJW mindset is sickening. They are vandalizing memorials that have nothin to do with Robert E. Lee and the Civil War. This is much bigger than that, and people need to stop making excuses for them.

Teach history, don't destroy it.

George Washington owned slaves, will his statues be torn down as well?

Somewhere a line has to be drawn.

Won't be long until Seattle demands we change the state name and state flag.

Surprised they haven't already moved the Statue of Lenin from Freemont to atop the Space Needle or on the front steps of Seattle City Hall.

The ones that want to tear down statues only know about the civil war era, they don't know anything besides Washington was the first president.

Once they do get properly educated they will have penny melting parties and demand that a civil rights leader be put on the penny instead

Shame on them for remembering that for which their fathers and grandfathers fought and died. Shame on them for acknowledging the losses in their past and what led to them.

:facepalm2:

So.... Japan is now located in the US? Got it.

Had you actually taken some time to craft a reply, you could have said a King Louie Statue in France. Or a monument in China about the Mongols.

You implied the South's loss left them with no heritage and no stake to retain their monuments. How Japan isn't a fitting analogy is completely beyond me.

Yup. This Veteran should have taken his captured flag to Japan, shit on it and burned it in front of the Japanese veteran who formerly owned it. <purple is my sarcasm color

https://www.upi.com/Defense-News/2017/0 ... m_medium=1

I mean really. Snowflakes should be up-in-arms that a flag which represents the enslavement and crushingly brutal conquest of most of Asia has been returned to one of the culprits! How dare ANYONE forgive!!!

See. All of these things happened. Those that forget history are doomed to repeat it, as the old saw goes.

There were scads of people heavily vested in the politics, and emotion of war(s). These monuments are records of those feelings, sacrifices and factual, historical events.

And another point: the South may have lost that battle (the so-called "civil" war), but the war for States' Rights has never been surrendered. Look to the recent comments about WA state's 2A laws and pre-emption... about 2A reciprocity nationwide and how states' rights have been claimed on a host of other legal issues of late.

In the War of Northern Aggression, slavery was a subordinate issue. Hell, the Federals didn't outlaw slavery until way late in the game. The Emancipation Proclamation didn't outlaw slavery EXCEPT IN THOSE STATES WHICH WERE IN OPEN REBELLION against the Federal Government. This was a war strategy to deny the South of resources to wage war.

States' Rights was the biggest reason for the rift.

At least the communists aren't involved in the removal of the statues. :ROFLMAO: This garbage is starting to look like 1929 Germany. Nazi's and Commies. Who could have imagined.
