History is history, no matter how offensive.

Those offended should be more productive, and work towards getting other statues erected. Such as Martin Luther King, as an example. That's my take on the whole thing.

And that's fine. Let's take all those statues, all those monuments, and move them to a Museum of Failed Insurrections.

The South will not rise again.

I agree that the South will not rise again.....

As for the other......, That's a pickle in my book. The White House was built with Slave Labor. Should we tear it down? Where do we all stop?

It doesn't stop. These whiny control freaks are like Isis. If a historical object or site offends their beliefs it must be destroyed. Until we shun and fight the whiners this is our new reality. It will never be enough.
screw it I need some thermite, anyone know a guy that works on rail road? I'm gonna melt Lenin in half

Just read about a "protest" in Atlanta... the lefties were determined to tear down ANY monument concerning the civil war. They chose a monument that was erected to commemorate the peace... tsk tsk

This video proves these conspiracy theories wrong. The car was already speeding with intent.

I'm going to guess that many of you have never lived in a city that has many streets named after and monuments erected for slave owners that owned slaves in and around the city and you are a descendant of those slaves.

If you'll forgive the light-hearted response...

Must feel about like being a cat in a rocking chair test facility...

I don't even get why we have such statues. Want a memorial to commemorate American lives lost in the civil war? Okay, fine. One dedicated to a former-Confederate who changed his ways and worked to repair the union and promote equity amongst all peoples? That's fine too. But we don't need to be celebrating and idolizing the figures who were unapologetic in furthering the Confederacy's racist and treasonous cause.

that video proves nothing....his car was damaged prior to that video.
all i'm saying is that this looks like he has some sort of defense possible. innocent until proven guilty? i'll bet $5 he walks. prosecution has a difficult job to do, they have to prove intent. the video's i posted show clear damage to the vehicle prior to that bat swing right before he hit that silver car who subsequently hit the minivan.

Actually, the car is already doing 30-35mph down that closed street. He purposely entered the closed street through a barrier and sped toward the protesters. It is all coming out from eye witnesses that were on the scene.
Check out the first half of a second of the video I posted. The car screeches and bottoms out. and you can hear people shriek, and this is long before that kid takes a swing at the vehicle(which is also clearly seen after the car speeds by). The intent is obvious. Kid will fry.

Ooooh but they're not Nazi's, they're just disaffected white people who believe they are better than everyone else because genetics and manifest destiny...

Special snowflakes all.

Although I don't think there is a need for these statues personally, it shouldn't be up to a angry mob of fucktards to decide that for everyone. Go about it the legal way and have it removed. Just because something offends you does not give you the right to take the process into your own hands.

Entitlement is thick these days.

The statues were originally respectfully commemorative for the local population, but now they serve as a reminder of the evils of slavery and civil war. Like the statues of Lenin, Salin, Trotsky and others they now serve as a reminder to be constantly vigilant against evil.
