I have a Taurus 24/7 which is usually SA, should I press the trigger with the pad of my finger or first joint? Also I have a gun that is DAO, should I shoot it with the same finger position?

This is a topic that does come up from time to time. Most will suggest one over the other (pad of finger or first joint).
I will tell you both are appropriate.
You have to look at what you are doing and what type of shooting...
The pad of the finger tip is best for pure marksmanship as you have finer finger tip control without using larger muscle groups of the finger and hand... There reducing the influences of those larger groups on your accuracy.
Now for action shooting and double taps or rapid fire... The first joint of the finger would be better as you have the ability to use the larger muscle groups of the hand and can use this to stabalize for more rapid follow up shots.
Now if you have to just choose one... That is up to you the shooter.
See what works best for you and feels better.
Sidenote: One reason as to why one is recommended... Is because... What type of shooter is giving the advice? Do they do both marksmanship and action shooting? Most likely not.
