Question for you.
I know that truck sales will vary from state to state, and blue book in autos is like bluebook in firearms, not representive of market desire or market value....

That said, I have an opportunity to buy my Father’s 2000 F350 but he’s sort of an ex-salesman, oh wait, he IS an ex-saleman.... and will try to take me down a river in price if he can. Sad but true, but it's a hard habit to break even at 87. ;)

The vehicle in questions is as follows:

2000 F350 Desiel 7.3 Liter (yeah, I know, highly desired...he keeps trying to use that as a selling point, and justifible too)
Loaded.
61,000 miles
Manual 6 speed.
XLT
Alum running boards
Complete undercarriage rust proofed (not driven in MN winters!)
3:73 rear end (an upgrad then)
Camper package (upgraded springs)
Aluma Storage truck box bed
8' box
4,000 lb reciever hitch
5th wheel receiver (I'm buying his 36' Gulfstream too)
upgraded Brake controller
2" H.D. bars welded to the from for front and rear tie downs for a truck camper. (he has one)
Wired for truck camper.
Vented 5th wheel tail gate
CB Radio and antenna
Splash guuards front and rear (extra large in rear)

I offered a bit over bluebook, my lowball offer of $11,000. He countered with $14,500.
And told me the money goes into the estate so I'll get back 1/3 of it "eventually, when the Minnesota winters finally kill me..." (His words...LOL!)
Only 2 photos of the ford but trust me...it is mint. He drives it a couple times a year to keep it exercised.

$14k for a stomping truck like that seems like a steal...new, that’s a $50k truck. And it’s super low miles.

I’d be worried about rust from MN though. But maybe given that you know it’s history that’s a non-issue.

I’m no mechanic or salesman, though.

I'm confused on why he wants more but it will just go to his estate, like he will never touch it. Almost sounds like he doesn't care about the money, but he wants to win the deal. It's 17 years old but it's still a good truck

Talked to a customer this AM that just bough a bran new 2017 Escalade last week...so last years model..@ a smidge below $80K

$14.5k is peanuts...and its a real truck.

Even with stick shift.....which would be a haggle point.

Not all men drive clutch.

Nice looking truck. I'd say your offer was close to what I would pay.
I'd want a crew cab and automatic personally.

Never driven in winter. You should see the underside! STill black from the rust coating...

Yes, it's the game, not the money. He's worth north of 2m. I hate salesmen. LOL!

And he lives like its 1930, the year he was born! Penny pincher.

As a former salesman he will very likely appreciate a good dicker. Offer $12,000. If he doesn’t go, offer $11,900. I bet you get a smile.

It looks like a great truck and you know the history.

No room in this thread for anti Ford guys. :)
I've owned 3 Ford trucks, all were rock solid.

Not so much with Ford CARS!

I work next to the Ford store. They keep tow companies in business.
