Most of us carry and train so we're prepared to defend our lives with lethal force if necessary. But this case showcases that no matter how clean of a shoot it is, no matter how in the right you are, there will still be a lot of confusion, questions and speculation around it and nobody comes out unscathed. I pray that I never find myself in the situation where I have to shoot someone and hope that this shoot was a good one and that she ends up okay.

I was not at fault and my leg was almost amputated.
Damn Dana! Didn't realize how bad it was when you said it! Like I said, doesn't take any speed to get hurt, bad. Force-energy is all it takes, flesh doesn't stop a damn thing. You'll get the itch again, but you loose your cool factor riding a Goldwing with dreads.....
Yeah, bruh. Scared for life. Chicks dig it....I never lost the itch...and there's only one cure. But that $40k Harley up the road sure does look nice. I think it would make a great 1911 accessory.
Yea, you got lucky to get a good doc, most would probably be on an A.L. For $25k a GS1200 doesn't make your ass or hands numb, and you can sit on it from tank full to refill. AND, you can take it off road to go shooting! There's many of places off the beaten path that those without inclination will go. 10 miles over FS70 puts you just over the Cascades, an miles of 1k+ yd ranges! But if you get a GS, you have to get a Sig......

I haven't seen anything so far that makes it a bad shoot. Hopefully there won't be.

Looked up the GS...that does stand for "God, that's SEXY!"? Dad will approve. Can I get an elk on that?
Do you have one? I foresee an image of the bike, a NEMO, and you, on that range.

Every once in a while, when I see the title of this thread, I read it as... "Workman kills man - Road Rage"

Do you have one? I foresee an image of the bike, a NEMO, and you, on that range. Bone it out, good saddlebag/basket setup I am sure you could. Be a slow ride out weight wise similar to having a large second rider, but in baskets set you the CG would not be as bad and you could do it! Or get one of those pull behind single wheel trailers...

STED9R wrote: Sadly, two facts to this incident hold truth; 1-We're all armchair quarterbacking, and all FACTS have yet to be released, and there's nothing wrong with that, it creates conversation and practical exercise scenarios. 2-Unless you've put more than a few thousand miles on a bike, you have absolutely zero idea what it's like to ride fully unprotected amongst vehicles and, generally, their actions towards a motorcycle. Owning a bike for a couple of years doesn't give a large amount of information, thousands an thousands of miles does.
I honestly do have well over 100k miles on a bike, well over, for the past 38 years. Many of those years were spent at redline and wild, which garners distrust and disrespect of cagers, which I fully understand AND agree with.(trying to hurt or kill a rider a big no no) Which brings up a negative perception of a motorcycle rider when a few does some sketchy unsafe shit on the road, which tends to lead towards a confrontation when a cager feels slighted and has a bit of anger/control issues. Being a rider, very safe rider these days, I get to see, and I am more aware, of the actions of a cager with issues against anyone on a bike, regardless of that riders riding style. But I also have seen a much more negative perception of the "crotch rocket" style bikes, have yet to see a grey haired old guy on a huge Honda get any flak. We do not know what led up to the contact, yet. REGARDLESS, physical contact was wrong on both sides, and he was shot solely due to that fact. If it'd been a 300lb rider on a Harley, the guy would've never approached the rider, being a young girl......guy had control issues, at least my opinion. A couple things I myself perceived when I first read about this, what did she do prior that pissed off the cager, why didn't she try to get away, and if she couldn't have gotten away due to crashed bike or traffic why get into physical contact... whether I am right in my assumption, doesn't make me wrong to make that judgement, just not fully informed like the rest of us.
If anything to remember from this, don't get into a physical altercation. Unless there's a gun to your head, walk/run away an let the police sort it out as only your family is worth dying for. Thank you. I have been trying to figure out a way to say much of that and you articulated it very well. I stopped riding a number of years ago now, I think we spoke about it when I stopped by the last time. I felt I had spent enough years on the ragged edge without a major fall and also was seeing a significant rise in anti-biker mentality and a big jump in outward aggression towards anyone on 2 wheels (pedal or motor). Only so many times you can have truck mirrors passing over your shoulder before one finally makes contact. I got to the point I was not willing to take the risk anymore, That was a tough decision, as I had devoted my life to being on 2 wheels up to that point.

Just to clear a few things up that have been said about this shooting that occurred on I-5. This is from the young lady on Facebook and in her words. It's not everything that happened but it explains what led up to the incident. Quote: Just wanted to say thank you to all who have shown their support either by reaching out to me directly, donations, and sticking up for me to the internet trolls. This is a very traumatic experience and I appreciate the support while the investigation is still open, as I am advised to not speak of any details about the case that is not already public knowledge. What I will address is the statement of "both vehicles pulled over" this is 100% false information provided by the news and State Patrol. When the police and news arrived on scene, about 15-20 minutes later the our were already pulled on the shoulder by 2 witnesses to prevent blocking traffic in the HOV lane. At the time of the incident I along with the other vehicle were in the HOV lane stopped when the man got out of his vehicle and approached me. I want to make it 100% clear that I in no way antagonized this man to get out of his vehicle. I was in front of him for a few miles before his initial rage started (because I was leaving a cushion between me and the car in front of me and he did not like that). Again, thank you for all of your support in this matter. I hope no one else has to have this type of experience, if you think someone is acting hasty towards you on the road, please get away from them and report them to the police if you feel the need to, it is not worth ANYTHING other than getting home safely. I would like everyone to understand that unless you are put into this type of situation, you do not know how to react until the exact time its happening. Please keep all rude and snotty comment to yourself because it will not change the outcome of what happened. Unfortunately the driver let his road rage anger get the best of him and made the choice to get out and approach and attack a complete stranger over leaving space between the car in front of them stop and go traffic... Ride safe guys and again thank you for the support!

If the truth doesn't follow the "guns are baaaaad!" narrative, I expect we'll hear no more of this from the MSM. It will just quietly go away and all anyone will remember is the "guns are baaaaad!" part.
