The following video shows Seattle Police officer bodyworn footage of the initial contact with the suspect, the suspect firing at the officer and the officer returning fire; dashcam of the suspect colliding with a Seattle Police car; and the final encounter where an officer fired upon the suspect. http://spdblotter.seattle.gov/2018/02/2 ... n-ravenna/

1. Good shoot. 1 less POS out there.
2. Why is it they post videos that make them look good, hours after they happen, but anything that makes them look bad or where accusations of misconduct are levied, it's 'we don't have the footage' or 'we're not prepared to release it yet'...'it's still under investigation' etc..or, in SPDs case, they outright refuse to release it.

Pretty obvious to me why they do that...

Wow. That was action-packed!
A couple things I noticed:
1) Good trigger disciple, even under pressure, by the officers that first approached the car.
2) They sure let him do a lot of “reaching” in the back seat before they shot him....

He was looking for his registration. I, too, am impressed by the restraint SPD showed despite the risk and stress.

Tough to see on my phone. First part of the video is a guy running and gunning, then next all hell breaking loose guy in car digging around......in a nutshell this doesn't match the words. What did I miss?

Read the text on the page where the video is. He ran from SPD, shot at them, broke into a house, stole a car from those folks at gun point and then tried to drive off...

I agree 100% that the restraint used in this situation was remarkable. I wish they’d been able to effect a physical entry of the vehicle though. To be able to subdue the suspect, without killing him, would have saved the officer to fired the shots a LOT of grief.
I’m not saying it was practical, or even possible........but listening to the officers obvious frustration in WANTING to do something short of shooting him makes me wish one of them had shot out the window, instead of shooting him directly. Not that I personally blame them in any way. It’s just armchair quarterbacking, wishing that they’d had the time/tools to not have to kill someone. Not because they guy didn’t obviously deserve what he got, but to save the officer from having to deal with the trauma of taking a life.
Thank you to the SPD for they’re heroic and admirable actions in this situation.

Not much awareness of backstop shown, lucky that no officers were hit by other officers. Tough situation.
