This (and other turmoil like Venezuela) are just stark modern reminders that the world is full of evil and turmoil.

That's only interrupted by momentary random blinks of peace and happiness. Capture and enjoy the peace and happiness as it is a blink in time folks. Think about your own life. Probably mostly varying degrees of hardship, frustration, and difficulties, with a sprinkling of good stuff. Such is the world.

The US, for instance, is at war every generation since probably the dawn of the US. I can't think of a generation in 2 centuries not impacted by war. You can bet on it. Just going back 100 years:

* WWI - 1914-1918 (US got in late, directly)
* WWII - 1930s-1940s (US got in late, directly)
* Korea - 1950s
* Vietnam - 1960s - 1970s
* Desert storm/shield - 1990s
* Various skirmishes world wide with terrorists or guerillas - 1970s forward, every few years.
* OEF/OIF 2001- current
