Hello, do any of you use Abode for DIY home security? I am looking to move away from my subscription service since they don't do jack crap.
For those who don't know, i've been researching all morning for the best and Abode seems to come with many recommendations. I'm looking for some first-hand experience. Thanks! -e http://www.goabode.com |

I'd be interested to know as well if anyone has personal experience with them. Abode came to the top when I was researching home security companies as well.

I have SimpliSafe and spend the $14.99 to have it monitored... after 18 months I'm happy!

with cameras in the house, i wanna walk around in my undies, ya know? kinda difficult to do that if you know there's a company watching the cameras lol
jokes aside, i really want something i can monitor myself without having to pay the monitoring fee. i looked into simplisafe and it doesn't suit my needs. Nehebkau, i'm probably going to pull the trigger here as soon as i get a final figure on how much i owe the irs. i'll let you know how i like first impressions and maybe update with how i like it after using it a while. |

We had ADT for years while the monitoring fees slowly started to climb up. I felt violated in my sqeakhole.
Then they started the constant monthly CP check (which never worked right) which caused the panels to start beeping randomly. Recently we cut the IP phone with Xfinity and there was no way the alarm could communicate with ADT central without the very expensive 'cell option'. Screw that. I ordered a bunch of free new ADT yard signs and stickers, disconnected the alarm from the phone line so they couldn't disable the system remotely and told them to FOAD. I moved the alarm siren outside under an eve. The thing can wake the dead and hopefully the neighbors will hear it and call the cops. We're done with paying for shitty monitored service. YMMV |

The problem with this if it is your only monitoring is when you dont have your phone, or you are say out of town and sleeping and the phone doesn't wake you up. |

I have ADT and my business pays the fees.........but yeah they were around $35 and we went wireless and it jumped to $55. Crazy. I need a different solution plus I want cameras and ADT is thinking the have an exclusive on cameras or something. They hype that they are wired, so $2000+ for installation is worth it.
