2 dead, 2 injured. That's just awful. https://www.statesman.com/news/breaking ... BS5HHbfeO/The incident marks the second reported explosion in the city on Monday and the third in two weeks. The U.S. Postal Service told investigators that the packages did not come through their facilities, so the packages were likely left by someone at the doorstep, Manley said. Manley said authorities know what kind of explosive devices were used, but they are not revealing details in order to preserve the integrity of the investigation.

This is a very good reminder to not pick up strange packages, whether on your doorstep or in public or on the roadside.
Move away from suspicious packages in public locations.
Package bombs are nothing new. And the IED is the favorite weapon of terrorists.

Package bombs are nothing new. And the IED is the favorite weapon of terrorists. Buddy of mine served as a soldier in Belfast. Laughed at how we just called a tow truck for an abandoned vehicle in the US. They called the bomb squad. Get USPS informed delivery. Something supposed to come to your door, you'll get an email at every stop on the way, tell you when it was delivered. Pretty useful. Documents shipments coming to you that you didn't even know about.

Terrible news. Very sad to see such a young man killed and several others nearly killed like this. Plus we have a serial killer/bomber at large. Hopefully he will be captured shortly to face the justice system.
When I was working as a forester in California in the mid-nineties, the head of our timber industry California Forestry Association was actually killed by a package mailed by the Unabomber. A very tragic event at the time also.

What we need is a ban on high capacity packages...
My cousin worked at a motorcycle shop in the ‘70s. Took a package that came in the mail to the manager and went back to his office. It exploded and killed the manager.
They never found out who sent it or why. I’d guess it was a personal grudge.

Why aren't bombs illegal???
Or MORE illegaller!
Ban anything that a bomb can be made out of!
I saw a video the other day about making a ghost bomb!
Did you know you can just buy bomb stuff on the internet with no background check???

Did you know you can just buy bomb stuff on the internet with no background check??? Exactly - this is the gun control argument in a nutshell. "We don't understand the issue, so let's just ban all the things!!!"

Think it may be a copycat. This was an incendiary device, may be unrelated to the other 5 bombs. http://www.kvue.com/article/news/local/ ... -530453605Austin-Travis County EMS and the Austin Fire Department are responding to reports of a sixth explosion in southwest Austin. ATCEMS tweeted after 7 p.m. Tuesday that officials were responding to Brodie Lane and West Slaughter Lane. Officials said a male in his 30s was transferred to St. David's South Austin with potentially serious injuries that are not expected to be life threatening.

They have about 2,000 people on the ground working this. Be cheaper to just bump the reward to $1M and hope someone rats off whoever is doing it instead of paying for all the Inspector Cluseu's walking around bumping into each other pretending to solve this. Can't just keep throwing more people on this and expect it to be solved faster.
