In Louisiana and other countries “nutria rat” are hunted and prepared for cuisine. They eat away the vegetation that’s keeping your land from eroding so please, kill them. Deep fry them. https://wdfw.wa.gov/living/nutria.html

Olympia hired some people to shoot nutria at Capitol Lake.

Several years back I found one swimming in a pond on some public ground in the basin. I had to search online to figure out what it was. Talking to Fish and Game about them I made an offhand comment about killing them and then tossing them out for the carrion eaters to have. I was told if I did that I'd be facing a wanton waste charge for each one. They weren't a game animal so I could take them home and put them in the trash if I wanted but I couldn't leave them out to get eaten (because thats wasteful apparently?).

They are basically just large muskrats, aren't they? Really nice fur - I used to trap muskrats back in MN in my early years.... wish I would have saved a couple of pelts, but they were going for $15-20 each and they were easy to trap.... paid for a lot of beer back then.

Of the ten voices I hear in my head, only three keep telling me NOT to shoot.... Do I go with the majority or common sense?
