So, my brother-in-law is trying to get a new roof put on ASAP in Puyallup.

His wife found somebody they're considering, but they don't look so great online, so I thought I'd ask here.

I did a search here, and found two pages & read through them. I sent two PM's to people that said to PM them back then, but thought I'd ask now, a year later. Perhaps those that inquired back then had their roof work done and now had input, or some newbies have input.

Thanks for any help :thumbsup2:

Tri State roofing did a great job on my house, which was not easy.

Holy Cow, that's not a house, THAT's a barn !!!

The inside layout must be cool as hell, though :thumbsup2:

That's one helluva roof, thanks for the recommendation, MM :cheers2:

He did some stuff for us, did a neighbors house too. He even gave us a quote and told us what are things we should actually do, and what probably isn't worth doing.

In 1978 when I did a stint as a roofer right out of high school, we used to do barns as steep as Malleck's house.
We didnt' use ropes. We used roof hooks with a 2x4 laid in the roof hook ends. The 2x4 was on edge (strongest part) and we'd toe the 2x4.
You'd pack your own shingle bundles on your shoulder, climb a ladder, then put your pack of locking shingles near the roof hook and start nailing by hand.
It was a dangerous job but none of us ever felt in danger, of course we were young and invincible!
The only time we used ropes and harnesses was for a church steeple we did that summer.

Roofing a house isn’t hard once the shingles are the roof. Two guys can do 2000 sq ft on a weekend. I did mine from tear off to completion in 3 days. That was packing the shingles up myself.

Blue Tarp?

Seriously though...I've seen two houses in my Neighborhood done in the last year. Price difference was $10,000 for the same sq footage.

Being 'in need' doesnt give you the bargaining chip.

Make it dry, and shop.....

Wow, that's some price difference.

I wouldn't say they were 'in need', per se, just that they are ready, as opposed to just kicking the tires.

I'll convey the price differential you mentioned and encourage him to get multiple bids.

Thanks

Pricing can fluctuate wildly since shingle pricing is tied to oil prices.

Demand is also high right now for anything construction related.

State roofing. They did my place, gave me a life time guarantee. Had and issue last fall, and yeah, they stood up to the guarantee. Really good company to do business with.
