This has lawsuit written all over it. They had no reason to pull the student in for being at a gun range and tweeting about it. Now if the kid was talking about using that information against the school, that is different. But clearly in his comments and videos he wasn't doing anything wrong or threatening anyone. I think the district is being hyper sensitive and realizes they did nothing with the shooting a while back, seems a little guilt ridden to me.
'out of an abundance of caution'......... 'ataff was advised he possessed assault weapons'..... 'student safety is our top priority'....
Probably something along those lines is what the school will say..

I'm not sure about Florida but in Washington you can file a letter with the school stating that your child can not be questioned by a school official without a parent present. If you have school age children I would suggest doing it.
Good tip to look into, thanks. My kids had a few situations which I had to be called for, and one that required a parent/3 principals conference. One of the vice principals was rude to my boy, and I stood up, placed both fists on the edge of the main principal's desk and said "You call me back when that fucking bitch can show some respect and we'll talk about this like adults. Come on son." At the follow-up conference, that fucking bitch wasn't there.
I VERY rarely lose my cool like that. I meant every word, and they knew it. Never had a problem with that administration for the rest of the time my kids went through that school. I think that many schools could use a little face to face like that.
No, I am not billy bad ass.
I was called in to the school for just such a 'conference', a couple times.
Once, they wanted to put my son on ritalin and/or other drugs. I said no. Flat out. And threatened to sue if they persisted.
Next time, they wanted to know if I would give permission for them to spank him. I never ever had to spank any of my kids. I WOULD have, if they had ever given me reason to. Like throwing a tantrum in a store like I see so may kids doing now.
All I had to do was give them a look of disappointment, and they would be heartbroken. My kids were ALWAYS praised for how good they were for other people. And how good they were in public. And they were just as good at home. They were NOT problem children. The teacher was the problem. (He never had a problem with anyone else.)
My answer... If you, (pointing my finger directly at the principle's nose which was only about a foot away.), or anyone else in this school ever lays a hand on my son, to spank him, I will come here, and I will spank whoever did it, right in front of my son and the rest of his class. This is not a threat, it is a promise.
I am big enough to have done just that, and they knew I was serious. No one ever touched him after that. And like I said, he never ever had any problem with any other teacher.

Not billy bad ass.
But a true bad ass, I suspect. Calm, cool, and collected until its time to let hell break loose. The world needs more Mike like Bruce Dickinson needs more cowbell.

Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons. The possession of a good rifle, as well as the skill to use it well, truly makes a man the monarch of all he surveys. It realizes the ancient dream of the Jovian thunderbolt, and as such it is the embodiment of personal power. For this reason it exercises a curious influence over the minds of most men, and in its best examples it constitutes an object of affection unmatched by any other inanimate object.
