Pretty fantastic weekend for me and the family.
Attended the party we were out there for, kids played hard.
Slept good, fresh air, coffee.
Yup.

:thumbsup2:
Next wknd is the huge ass swap meet.

Thanks for the tip on the spot.
Didn't sterilize it. Left the cans and all that.
I think we may be around that area a bit. Lots to do.

If anyone was wondering, the trail to Grove of the patriarchs is a no dog zone.

Thanks!
I somewhat Know the kids father, local and met him hunting up there in the early nineties, his boy has been hunting there on and off on his own for a few years now. I'm going to bag it all up, stash the bags with the pallets and make the kid pick them all up.

Sans rain, I'll be up there next weekend. June will be touch an go as I'm remodeling the kitchen and won't really have time to camp.
Snow should be gone up top by mid to end June, I'll give you more areas to explore.

Not real far out, but our yearly weeklong is over. We're planning a few long weekends now.

Making memories, Rix! That's what family camping is all about!

Yeah unfortunately the Foster boy decided he didn't want to do anything with the two friends that he brought so it ended up with some good and some bad

We are planning on camping at Ocean City, any pro tips for here? Temps in the day are definitely a lot cooler than other places we have been lately, but night temps seem about the same. Is the fishing any good? Or do you really have to get it out a ways?

We are "Glamping" this Friday near Kennewick. We're taking care of a dog for one of the pit crew at the hydros.
We are not attending, just hanging out Fri/Sat and coming home Sun morning.
Will hit a few places for wine on Sat. Supposed to be 101 deg at the tri cities! yikes!

Be very careful with open flames, cigars, etc out there. We've had 10+ wildfires in the last month. It's super dry, you can look at the sagebrush sideways and it will light up.

Third weekend with my new trailer, third weekend camping in it. Will be 4 after next weekend. Towed it into work this morning and leaving straight away after to head up and spend the weekend on the lake. A group of us rented out the entire campground. Should be about 10-12 RVs. All for like $350. Pretty damn cheap. Looking forward to some good bass fishing and lots OT for liver.

My buddy (gunsmith/FFL that's helps me with estate sales ) swung by to drop his dog off. He's in the pit crew for U440 at tri cities this week end.

We're heading out tomorrow for Tri citiea tomorrow morning. They don't allow dogs in the pit crew RV area so we'll have the dogs about 10 miles away. Wife and I have pit crew passes but we're going to go wine tasting this weekend instead. I might sneak down to the pits for some photography though....

This trailer pictired was my Godfather's 1957 Airstream Caravanner that Paul bought from my God Father's Widow last summer. I had first shot at it but I just don't have the time or the energy to rebuild an old RV. There wasn't much to do on this one though. Paul bought it from the Widow and we ended up hauling it back from Spokane last summer and he has put it back in service ( ew wiring, packed wheel bearings it didn't need much!) It still needs a polish on the aluminum skin.

We used to go camping on DNR land. Park off the road and hike in. Our parking spot got closed though due to dumping. Never checked the legality of camping there, but we were always good about cleaning up and having safe fires. I like having to hike for an hour before camping, but I hate worrying about my car parked on the side of a remote hwy for a day or two. Next time i should just uber us out there. lol

That's what I did this last time was look for some DNR land and then try to find a road that went into it.

State Park Ranger here.

I work at a rather suburban set of parks. This means out of 180 sites we are sold out every weekend from May 15th to Sep 15th, about 900 people in a few acres. It's nuts.

We went down the WA and OR coast touring lighthouses, were driving back on July 4.
Had a booklet with all the State campsites in it.
"OK, here's one with 16 sites........." Must have been 150 people camping there, tents on both sides of the road!
All the sites we checked were like that.
Ended up staying in a motel.

Didn't even know state parks took reservations.

I think what it boils down to is the PNW has just become overpopulated. When I was a kid my dad and I used to camp many places and often just roll into campsites and pick which one we wanted. No registration, no fees. I'm not talking that long ago either, early-late 90s.

Now you'll get a reservation to a site and show up, either the camp sites are absolutely packed, or the "reserved" sites near you are empty and nobody ever shows up - which is another confusing one to me.

Best time to camp is in the fall or spring, there is little competition. We do our best camping during hunting season on DNR or BLM managed land with primitive sites.

Wife and I checked out Lake Wenatchee campground when we were in Leavenworth last month. It was totally packed and ridiculously crowded, and half the license plates were from California
