pretty far south. looks like Klawock has its latest sunset at 2139 and earliest sunrise 0408 for 17.5 hrs of daylight. now, December on the other hand, shortest day is 7hrs 3min, sunrise 0819, sunset 1522. just some fun facts, you got me curious so I had to look it up

Only liquor distributor I know of in Alaska is Odom. Used to be a client of mine back in the 90's, early 2000's. Nope, Western Washington beverage which became Alaska Distributors, then was bought out in '07ish by Columbia. I left about 6 months before the purchase thankfully.

Prince of Wales isn't really all that remote. Your daylight to dark ratio isn't much worse than here. Rains a lot. Foggy. It burns off normally before noon until fall comes around. Stuff is expensive that's why they shopped here and barged it up.
The environment will be a non issue if you like it there. Your biggest hurdle will be getting along with the people.
It's always the people. Agree. I’m from SE Ak. Only thing I’d add is look into a rig. There’s lots to explore if you’re mobile. Find a beater pickup and ferry it up. Plan on leaving it there lol

You might even come back married! My aunt in Fairbanks puts it like this for dating: "the odds are good but the goods are off"

Guy takes car to the mechanic stating it's not shifting right. "OK, I'll look at it." Guy comes back next day and mechanic says, "looks like you blew a seal". "No, no... that's just mayonnaise".

Opportunities with such benefits & scenery don't come around all that often.
Since the commitment can be as long, or nearly as short, as you want, I'd say go for it.
You never know, you could love it & stay, or find a new best friend, or a women, or just make lifelong friends you visit every few years.
Throughout life, even things I hated doing, I love having done them.
You may love doing this...
If not, you still may love having done it.
