I seem to remember a member of the forum who worked at Western State as a nurse. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have some questions regarding employment there....

My wife did part of her Preceptorship there... But she quickly decided that was not the place for her.

Yikes. My wife went with a different (lower paying) position. Might be a good thing though, recently read that Western State failed an accreditation and lost something on the order of $53 million in Federal funding.

That would be a fact. My understanding was that their retention rate was part of the reason they lost federal funding. They either couldn't, wouldn't or just didn't care about fixing that. Good luck to them improving their retention rate now,
I wouldn't let my wife work there.

I came here to post this.
They are supposed to be relocating patients, and layoffs are supposedly planned...

Yeah. I was a little disgruntled when my wife took a job paying significantly less at a different hospital, but I guess things happen for a reason. I'm sure any offer for employment that was there two weeks ago has since vanished.

What position was she going for? Accredited medical professionals are still in pretty high demand. I know of a couple places who are scrambling for CNA's, LPN's and RN's.

My wife works there as an RN and two of our housemates work as mental health techs (sort of the equivalent of a CNA). They all get lots of overtime which they like. Psychiatric nursing and care isn't for everyone but there are good paying jobs available at the hospital. OP... If you have questions about employment I can relay them to my wife (I think she has about 12 years there).
