I own 10 acres of land on Anderson Island. It's mainly populated by retirees, people on disability or some form of govt. assistance, and homesteaders. Pretty quiet and people who would like to be left alone. Although folks are very polite and nice on the island. Known troublemakers are shunned.

There is a park & nature reserve on the south side of the island. There is a trail system on the island, but one can probably just walk on the public access beaches. For eats, there is only the Riviera restaurant and a cafe next to the general store. Food is decent. There is a Anderson island historical museum on Otso Pt. road. Check out Anderson Island winery if they're still operating as last I heard, the owner had recently sold the property.

For being close to the I-5 corridor, land is surprisingly cheap on the island. A 2000 sq. ft. parcel within the Riviera HOA community was only $3000 as of 2014. When I bought my land around the same time, it was going for between $5-7k/acre. Plenty of deer on the island during hunting season. My property is within a shooting-permitted zone and I have a makeshift private range there. Neighbors don't seem to mind the gunfire.

So....since I dig it when people update threads of inquiry, I try to do the same, so, here goes....

Everyone was pretty spot on, and The Highway gentleman nailed it.

They took the ferry over, and stayed in cabin on the Island. Did some hiking, hit the museum & a few places.

They got to distress from work.

They didn't hit the Riviera to eat, as I had made them lots of food to take (Hummus, etc.)

Very laid back & not a lot going on, which suited their mood at the time.

I didn't have to go, yet was less than an hour away if I was needed.

Perfect.

I got to stay home & get some shit done :thumbsup2:

Winner-winner, chicken dinner!

Thanks to all who posted a response & PM'd.

I don't know that I'd ever even heard of Anderson Island before, now I just found out a friend of mine is moving there. Think maybe we'll go check it out just for fun. Do you need a reservation for the ferry?

Shouldn't need a reservation. The ferry dock is at the end of DuPont Road, actually on Union Avenue:

A bite to eat or a beer/cocktail on the deck at The Topside nearby in Steilacoom is also a nice way to pass an hour or two on a sunny day. I used to work in DuPont and have spent quite a few lunches that way in Steilacoom.
