FBI Study on "Active Shooters"

:facepalm2:

WTF does that even mean? (I think the word "active" is used to elicit an emotional or fearful response)

Anyhoo, they're trying to profile murderers and "Mass Shooters". I think the data is all over the place and it just shows that a small portion of the populace regularly goes wiggy.

Fewer than a 1000 casualties (injured. 271 killed ) in a two year period in a population of 386 MILLION?

It's a lot of ado about a very small incidence of occurrence and makes me that much more suspicious of gun control.

It is important to understand details, for example, numbers based definitions of mass casualty attacks in LE-sponsored studies typically *exclude* "drug related" incidents. This changes the numbers.
And since no gold-standard double-blind studies on active shooters are possible, all conclusions based on current studies should be viewed with these facts in mind.
For example, the cited paper is based on the FBI study that states "The study does not encompass all mass killings or shootings in public places and therefore is limited in its scope."
Samuel Clements warned "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."
Make your own conclusions accordingly.
