Seriously, leaving them in the car or trailer while you are in the motel is a really bad idea, just do a google search and you will find plenty of examples

and oh yeah, just 20 guns? what are you new or something?

That's just my starter kit.
I just bought a safe to leave at my house for the rest of the goodies. Just taking the good stuff.
As the media would portray it I had the WAGUN community help me re-distribute my cache of ammo. :thumbsup2:

If your car has an alarm on it, and you're sleeping within earshot of it, chances are they'll be fine in the car. I'd rather have them there than in the trailer, personally.

11-0 car. Although both will be connected, and I plan on ground floor with it parked outside my window. Eff 30 hours of driving! I have a hard time going 20 miles. Anybody want to road trip? Getting old sucks.

I took the chance on the trailer and it worked for me on my 5 day cruise from WA to GA in '16. Ymmv. They were in a safe in a small uhaul trailer. The trailer is a larger target, but 20 guns in the back of a subi is hard to conceal. Smash and grabs are also easier and faster than getting bolt cutters, a jack, a trailer dolly, and a vehicle with a hitch. I used this https://www.homedepot.com/p/Master-Lock ... /202260767 lock on my trailer door. Looked imposing if nothing else.

Thanks, but that is wimpy compared to the solid steel hockey puck I have for the latch.

I would get a cheapo sentry/homak gun locker and bolt a couple L brackets to the bottom. Load it with guns then stand it up in the front of the trailer with the locker door against the wall. Screw it to the trailer floor and pack the trailer full behind it. Can't imagine anything much more secure than that considering the circumstances.

Damn good idea.

Here's a thought. Most motels on the road will have direct door from each room to parking lot rather than access through lobby. If not wanting to lug 20 guns into the room every night how about packing most of them into the trailer where you can lock the door with a hardened lock like an Abloy. Pick out your most favored firearms, pack those in the car, and bring that subset of guns into the motel room where you can cuddle up with them at night

Once you leave WA or OR your entire trip will be in the bright red, chewy heartland of the USA which still believes in personal responsibility and supports civilian gun ownership. So there shouldn't be any undue restrictions on transport of guns or ammunition (unlike California) and your WA carry permit should be accepted in most states on your route, though you'll have to research. Since WA state doesn't reciprocate with other states in general, several states may opt not to unilaterally grant recognition of WA carry permits in their own territory.

Oh yeah, awesome full auto shoot every June in Wyandotte, OK :thumbsup2:

The only reason OK isn't already a constitutional carry state is because Gov. Fallin vetoed the bill approved by the legislature this session after adjournment. The bill was passed by a veto proof majority in both houses so one can reasonably expect the bill to pass and the legislature to override the governor's certain veto in the next legislative session. It's refreshing to live in a state where the majority of politicians enact legislation supporting and expanding gun rights instead of continually waging war to limit and curtail them.

Safe travels on the road and best wishes settling into your new digs in Oklahoma.

Oh one thing. Driving on I-84 through to I-80 in Utah is easy peasey as you get to bypass Salt Lake City a bit north. Denver is another matter. The roadways in Colorado are pretty crowded as the Front Range of the Rockies around Denver is really over populated. Might be worth continuing on I-80 through Wyoming into Nebraska then drive south through Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma to your new home. Shouldn't take much longer and could be much more relaxing experience on the road, really depends where you're moving in Oklahoma though.
