Looks like we are shoving off around 3:00 this afternoon. If anyone is interested in tracking my progress across the pacific:
https://forecast.predictwind.com/tracking/display/ChaschMerI believe it will be updated twice a day. I also have an email address through Iridium that I’ll probably check once or twice per day. It’s somewhat limited (I’m not sure if I can send pictures yet) so I’ve only shared it with my mom and my wife. If someone here wants to be an intermediary I can communicate with them and they can update the thread.
This thread can also serve as a place to talk about me while I’m out there. Two whole weeks where I can’t talk back!

If you catch any tuna, definitely share some pics and details (speed, depth, gear). Have a safe trip!

Sweet thread! This will be interesting.
I’m especially interested in an update on how the first day’s portage went.

That was the navigator getting here. It connected the point from the last time he turned on the computer with the point when he powered it up on the boat.
We’re leaving in about half an hour.

How long do yo think it will take? When I went from San Diego to HI it took three weeks. That included going back to SD when the forestay busted a few days out. We also used a sextant for navigation, and the idiot boat owner had the self-steer mechanism hooked up backwards. Forestay busted again about a week out from HI, see we had to mainly rely on the Mainsail.
