My God. What did you do when you had to urinate? Where you forced to drink it?

Looks like we are turning around and heading back to Hawaii. We’ve been pounding into waves the past few days and something finally broke. A bracket under the mast beam that connects to the chain plates (base of all the mast rigging that’s above deck). Referred to as the jock strap. I replaced it with some spectra that should be fine for going back downwind. Definitely an oh shit moment but thankfully not catastrophic.

Lucky they didn't lose their mast.
I had the forestay (forward most cable supporting the mast) part at the mast dog (where it attached to the mast) on my old catamaran on a brisk day. Nothing quite like having your mast free fall into your lap. At least it didn't hit us (me or my golden retriever), it fell right behind my head and we got whipped by the various cables and lines coming down hard, but just some bruises. This happened on Black Lake, ended up being assisted by a jet skier who was right there when it happened, and towed back to my friend's house by a homeowner who watched it from his dock. He got a six pack of good beer left on his dock the next time I was out after it was fixed.
