I stopped by Factoria USPS to ship an AK to a FFL, was told by employee, the annex manager, and the postmaster on the phone that they don't ship "any firearms". Did the regulation change and I committed a violation or local postmaster have the authority to change regulation as he sees fit?
New here by the way, being shooting for a while but recently got hooked into shooting matches and found this forum. "talktoomuch" has been the most helpful guy here.

I called, they don't offer out shipment service, I ended up having the nice folks at Lowpriceguns ship them for me. $50 shipping cost and $35 for transfer.

FYI in case you're not aware lowpriceguns has a policy to not sell to 7% of the adult WA population, even though it's legal. It's age and disability discrimination.

You guys sure spend a lot of money because of failure to research your issue. Private individuals can ship long guns via U.S.P.S. WITHOUT DECLARATION! FFL's ship handguns all the time via USPS. In fact, one of the more fun things to do is go into a post office with the Domestic Mail regs and packaged firearm in hand and make the leftist vermin comply with their own regulation. True fun.

Yup. Whether they're being dicks or they're just uneducated, they need to comply.

Even when the SC overturned the Cake Lady verdict?
Or being they're a Gvt. Entity they must comply?
Or is the USPS a true Gvt. Entity?
I hear they aren't.......
Questions man...I gots Questions.
Do they as a private business, not have right of refusal?

Buddy tried shipping an UZI rifle back to the mfg for warranty repair through a post office in Wenatchee.
Clerk said it was illegal since it was a machine gun.
After he explained it was a legal rifle, all of the employees came out from the back to check it out.
In Everett, they ship live roosters via mail, could hearing hear them crowing from the parking lot.
So who knows what the fuck goes on in a post office.
Went out with a postal worker a couple times, she told me some pretty crazy shit.

I had to check the local post office a few years back. She swore up and down I was wrong, so did the next 3 people. Had them call the postmaster. He promptly apologized and cleared up their misconceptions. Very good relationship with them all now.
Thankfully my FFL ships pistols for me at $10 plus the cost of a Flatrate.

I think it was mentioned above, but to clarify:
YOU (a non-licensee) may ship LONG GUNS through USPS to a FFL. It must be sent Certified Mail, and there are packaging requirements.
YOU (a non-licensee) may NOT ship a handgun through USPS. You MAY ship a handgun through a commercial carrier (UPS/FedEx), but be prepared to pay through the nose for it.
For the absolute latest and definitive word on the subject, contact your local Postal Inspector/Postmaster, or get the number for the Compliance Division of ATF.
