I'm in favor of economic or legal restrictions on single use, single service size, plastic waste.
Make it biodegradable, or don't offer it.
We are destroying out environment for Dairy Queen Blizzards, single use waters, straws, bags, blister packs...

Bought a 1,000 pack of sporks at Business Costco about 10 years ago for $10. 4 years later we went through them all and bought more. Did give a few away...............

My brothers French girlfriend told me "In France we recycle everything. We even burn all of our leftover plastic for power generation!" I said "That's not recycling".
Plastic is a good fuel for power generation in a hot furnace. And the only material really worth recycling is aluminum due to the enormous cost (in electricity) of processing the ore. Want to find an Alcoa plant, follow the power lines. Everything else, not usually economically feasible to recycle. A semi load of cardboard is only cost effective if you are only taking it 3-4 miles. More than that you are losing money and it goes into a landfill.

Didn’t I read that China will no longer take a lot of our recyclables? I heard a lot of it will go into the landfill now.

Yup. Stuff they used to buy from us we have to pay them to take, and some they won't take at all.

Even since of the cleaner stuff though, isn't getting sold anymore.

Semi truck loads come from all over the state to the two paper recycling mills in Tacoma. After processing it is shipped all over the US and even to Canada for converting into new consumer products. Prices are down right now because China quit buying shiploads. Waste paper was more expensive then scrap steel.

"The amount of trash people recycle has skyrocketed since the 1980s. However, the amount of material recovered from the recycled trash did not follow the same trend. Even the CEO of Waste Management, one of the largest residential recycling companies in the country, has said that unless taxpayer dollars cover their losses, they will not continue their collection program."
