BG is already in one area of the house, no doubt he'll attempt to continue. B&E is charged as Burglary 1 in WA state which is a felony as Quanstuff pointed out. In the house, already committed a felony, good shoot by the letter of the law.
If you want your rights protected in this state read the law to the letter and leave the wishy washy if/then crap out. BG commits a felony, law says good shoot to prevent a felony, good shoot. That's it.
Could the HO have saved a big headache by just yelling at the BG and scaring them away? Probably, but still a good shoot.
