Body armor? Why not. Let's face it, innocent people get shot all the time. If they want to protect themselves they should be allowed to.
Why not mobile armor as well? A surplus "up armored" Hummer would be just right for commuting on I-5 or waiting for the Hood Canal Bridge to reopen.
All these things are passive devices and only protect the wearer/occupant. Even the "anti's" should recognize that armor doesn't cause anyone harm like a firearm could in the wrong hands.
Right now I don't think many people would like to wear armor of any kind if they didn't have to. 90 degree weather doesn't mix well with the "kevlar". On that note any soft armor has a short life if it gets loaded with sweat or even wet from heavy rain.

Are we talking wearing tactical armor, with plates all day everyday? Or only when expecting trouble? Are we talking wearing light concealable armor that does allow mostly normal freedom of movement? And again, all day every day or just when the threat is higher?
