Like this surprises anyone...$52 Million for trolley cars that wont fit the existing track. Quote: Seattle’s new streetcars may be too big to fit tracks, maintenance barn, mayor’s office says The Buffoonery Abounds... Quote: The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) ordered 10 new streetcars in the fall, at a cost of $52 million, as it planned to link the two existing streetcar lines with a new line along First Avenue through downtown.
But Durkan halted that work in March and ordered an independent review of the project’s finances, after a Seattle Times report said costs to operate the new system could be 50 percent higher than SDOT had publicly stated. And going to cost FIFTY PERCENT MORE TO OPERATE!https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-ne ... ance-barn/

I would appear the various DOT's hire dolts and seemingly have zero accountability within their ranks... fuck off $52 million on this kind of blunder... oh well, shuffle on to the next blunder. When was the last time you heard of a WADOT, SDOT or any-DOT official being canned. If they do, it's kept on the down-low.

They will just double the gun/ammo tax to fix it.

When they put in the downtown Seattle bus tunnels they ordered new buses that wouldn't fit in the tunnels. Buses were too wide to pass each other on turns. So they put them up on surface streets and just bought different ones.

I can't wait to see the trains run across I-90. Years ago WADOT paid $5 million dollars to a Kansas consulting firm to study the feasibility of light rail on a floating bridge. The consulting firm concluded that the trains were too heavy and the dynamic motion of a floating bridge wasn't suited for light rail.
WADOT, unsatisfied that they didn't get the answer they wanted, conducted (an equally expensive?) in-house study that came up with the recommendation to proceed.
*I* won't be driving across that bridge the first few rush hours of operation and will probably just make alternate travel plans as a habit, espe3cially after seeing them sink a perfectly good floating bridge back in the 90's due to their incompetence.

Just like duck boats in a storm. This won't end well physically, or financially.

Seems like these RTA projects always run out of money without much actual construction being done.

Next time some liberal softie asks why communism won't work this time, just whip this out. The most retarded shit is the machinations of centralized government. The local press is all on board with these Seattle dumbfux being our saviors.
