Link W/videoAfter allegations of corruption surfaced, he got a warrant for his OWN department, then served summons on multiple county officials.. Which netted him an IMMEDIATE termination... Quote: Sergeant Brad Mick of the New Holland Police Department in Ohio was handed a termination letter and his last paycheck on Monday just moments after he handed felony summons to Mayor Clair “Butch” Betzko and Police Chief David Conrad.
The mayor refused to accept the summons and threw it back at the officer. Conrad accepted his, then fired Sergeant Mick. He handed him a termination letter and his last paycheck. But wait, there's more.... Quote: The mayor tried to get Mick arrested for stealing his own department vehicle. While he was serving the warrant on his own department, she ordered the Chief of Police to issue a stolen vehicle report and demanded that the sheriff’s department handle the arrest.

Oh god, here we go...
Before anyone responds, at least look at the facts presented. This could be a teachable moment, one way or the other.
Just because TW posted this doesn't mean its bashing the police. OK probably, or just maybe.
It would be awesome if we could talk about things like this in a rational manor in order to learn.
I gave up on the last two threads

Same thing happened to me when I called out mom & dad for some bullshit...
But seriously, sounds like Mick might just take over the new chief of police opening.

But seriously, sounds like Mick might just take over the new chief of police opening. That would be karmic Justice. ESPECIALLY if there's some corruption that leads to jail time.

This is what I have been talking about, we need to keep an eye on Law Enforcement and the extreme potential for corruption lest we become Mexico

Sounds like an easy lawsuit for wrongful termination too.

Someone once said that a man in the right can't be stopped, as long as he keeps on coming. The next step for this Sergeant should be to head for the State Patrol with his evidence establishing probable cause. TW...this isn't a post about bad cops...it IS a post about a GOOD cop (at least I hope) standing up against an allegedly corrupt system.

He was fired for obeying his oath and doing his job. What, he doesn't belong to a union?
We had something sorta similar happen in Poulsbo in the early 80's that made national headlines. The city with no government. Forget all of the details but it involved the police chief's son selling drugs at the high school. Officers warned the kid that he was under investigation by the sheriffs department, someone got fired, and the end result was the entire city council resigned. Or something like that. Couldn't find a link. It was 35 or so years ago.
Appears the city is still all fucked up. 20 year veteran officer was arrested a few months ago for stealing narcotics from the drug take back box, almost daily. One of the former mayors was busted for molesting female city employees, think he raped one.

If all of this is exactly what it looks like, I'll agree with most here.
But I've also seen the same sort of circumstances and actions when someone has a personal beef with someone in power, (in this case, the chief, the mayor), and has been 'stalking' them, just looking for anything that even barely appears to be illegal.
It is also possible that there is corruption, and that it is worse than it appears. But the false signature was all the guy could get on them.
I'll wait for more info before declaring the system corrupt there.
