It is all good, the connection to smarphone is fine BUT the wifi network it creates has a fixed password. They offer a menu option to change it but it is not working for me. will keep trying.
Other than that the image quality is great and it accepts big memory cards like 32gb or 64gb.

I've read this before but it's worth repeating. Get the one that has a capacitor instead of a battery. Heat is bad for the battery types.
Quote:
Capacitors are more reliable also due to the fact that they are way more resistant to heat; unlike batteries, they don’t pose the risk of overheating and exploding. So, if you are going to use your dashcam in extreme temperature, always go for one that is capacitor based.
Didn't we already have a dashcam thread? As I was reading this thread, and came to your comment, I thought it was mine.
I bought a dashcam, and did a fair amount of research. My findings:
You want a good low-light sensor.
GPS can only be used against you, turn it off.
In-car audio weirds me out, turn it off.
Capacitor is a must, cars get damn hot.
The cam should be small and unobtrusive.
Buy a high-endurance memory card, or it'll wear out really fast.
I don't care about wifi, the size of the screen on the thing. If I need the footage, I'll pull the memory card out and put it in my computer. It's to record video, not play it. Don't fall for gimmicks. You'll install the thing, check the video a couple times, and then forget about it.
If you want a camera for the interior of your car, get one that has 2 cameras in the 1 unit.
If you want a camera facing backwards at other cars, buy a 2nd camera and mount it in the back of your car.
A polarizing filter is a must or the sun will blind the camera.
One that records when the car is off and parked would be nifty, until it kills your battery.
4k will fill your memory card 4x's faster. More pixels isn't necessarily better.
I have this one in my car and truck. Works great. Only cool videos I have are a few almost accidents and running red lights. Nice to have to CYA though I seem to get almost hit once a week with all the idiot drivers around.

Totally would make it worth it. I looked into the phone app before but heard that it's not as viable in court if it's from an app on your phone (not sure how true).

Video is video.
Sounds like one of those street lawyers that tell you if you shoot someone in your doorway to drag them in the house so it's a good shoot....or using HP is 'excessive force' and you gotta use FMJ...

That’s probably one of the best ones you can buy, it works when the car is off (parked) if something bumps your car it turns on and records. It’s pricy but probably the best camera you can get that’s reasonably priced.
All the other suggestions on here for budget cameras are pretty good as well. Here’s two video from a $30 camera.
The second one was in Canada, 110 is kph not mph when I said that. It was a 70 or 80 kph zone though.
