Weather's been too hot to just sit in town and sweat. Decided to hook up my trailer and head for the woods.

Went up to Buck Creek Campground and parked right next to the creek. For things to do I took about 300 pieces of semi prepped 6.5 Creedmoor brass and spend some time turning it into loaded ammo.

Here's the trailer in the creekside site:

This campground is located about 12 miles or so farther up the road past the "Darrington Pit" and has been inaccessable for several years due to a washout in the road. Don't know when it reopened but it's not overly used. I was the only trailer in the entire campground and there were only 4-5 tent campers in other parts of the campground. No water, no over the air TV, VERY limited radio reception, and NO Cell service might keep a lot of people away. That and the fact that the last 5 miles before the campground is probably one of the shittiest pieces of road in the entire state. Potholes 8-10 inches deep and in groups so you HAD to drive through them. I ended up putting the truck in 4WD-Low and just letting the engine idle while the trailer lumbered through them. Was well worth it though as the peace and quiet had almost the same effect as some drugs.

Loaded ammo during the cooler part of the day then retreated to a lawn chair alongside the creek to read a book during the afternoon. Found myself napping more often than not. No screaming kids in the campground or dogs running loose. With my "America The Beautiful Lifetime Senior Pass" it only cost me $8 per night. Too bad they won't let me move in for the month but then again, I'd have to figure a way to get rid of my holding tank contents. Don't think anyone would like it if I just dumped in the creek, even if I did it in the middle of the night. icon_eek

For those with a trailer (25' or less recommended) or smaller Motor Home, and want to really get away from it all, this is a great place. Just remember though Space 25 is MINE!

Nice, when you combine another hobby with camping I call camping with a purpose. For me it used to be gold prospecting. I might have to make a portable reloading set up. My current set up is mounted to a table.

I'm having sudden pangs of jealousy.

That looks really, REALLY nice, Mike. And I like the portable reloading setup!

We’re camping out at Fort Flagler and although nowhere near as peaceful as your trip. I’m definitely appreciative of the 70 degrees and the view from our site. This is our favorite State Park.

Everything but the press and my Trimmer setup fits in the plastic tool box along with a couple pounds of powder and a few boxes of bullets.

The press, an RCBS Partner, mounts to a piece of 2X6 and is secured to the picnic table with three long deck screws. No worries of it moving when secured to a Forest Service Picnic Table. Oh yeah, I do have to leave the box for the die set home and pack the dies individually in the toolbox but there are bigger tool boxes.

I use this same setup (less the Sinclair trimmer) when working up loads at the range. Don't ever let someone convince you that the Lee Perfect powder measure doesn't have it's place. A $25 powder measure that dispenses "rat turd" powders without a single cut granule. Mine is dropping loads within .1 gr (lower) and I just use an extra powder pan that I can dip a pinch of powder to "trickle" it up to exact on the small Lyman 1500 portable scale. One of the guys I shoot with that holds several State Benchrest records uses the same scale for his setup so I guess it's accurate enough

I'll shoot this next week and then decide where to go "reload" the weak after. Both mind/body and ammo :thumbsup2: :thumbsup2:

The more you know:
"Generally, the difference is size: you can step over a brook, jump over a creek, wade across a stream, and swim across a river. But the distinction between them (especially creek and stream) is somewhat hazy, and depends on who named them and when they were named. A run (such as Bull Run in Virginia) is a "small stream". Streams and rivers named kill (from the Middle Dutch word kille) occur frequently in New York (and occasionally in nearby states), and were most likely named by the Dutch. Some of these have had "creek" or "river" added to them later (Catskill Creek, Fishkill River)."

Beautiful setting , both the deep woods and Flagler.

We are in an over over in the tri cities. Glamping, (great RV resort, with pool which takes the ease off th 98 deg heat)

Visited Grandma/grandpa Graves of wife's side, wine tasting, early morning walks and late evening walks.
