Hello!

If you are receiving this email, you redeemed a Gift Card during Prime Week 2018 to thank you for your hard work. Amazon has a policy which requires us to report Gift Cards given to AAs, the “United States (US) Employee Gifts and Rewards” policy. You can view this policy here (view on the Amazon network only): https://xxx/1098 . On one of your upcoming paychecks, you will see a line which mentions something along the lines of “Gift Gross Up” which is how Amazon payroll keeps track of the gift that you received. Please reach out with any further questions!

The wife won a ten dollar Starfux gift card.

Same thing with the points system at Boeing. You get a pay stub and the Co pays the Tax.

Now I remembered this happened a long time ago at another company. Everyone was so cornfuzed AND pissed they had to have a company wide meeting for the two sentences you just wrote.

I worked for a company in Washington that had a location in CA. When we traveled to that location, the travel records were audited and CA income tax was taken out for however long we were there - even for one day. Had to file CA income tax ... ugh.

Dealing with CA income tax is why I first changed to WA residency being stationed up here.

You don't need to "change" your residency. Your PCS orders to WA automatically make you a WA resident. Thus the ability to buy a handgun without a WA ID/DL (but a WA ID/DL does make it a bit easier).

Yes, but now he's a WA resident when he PCS's to his next duty station. When I was stationed in Japan, everyone I knew was either WA or FL resident simply to avoid paying state income taxes.

Yes but now I don't have to deal with California for income taxes every year. Besides I have no intention of moving back to that state. Too expensive and too many stupid laws.

I moved out in 2003 for basic training. Other than going to visit family have had no desire to go back.

Mike you have not been a resident since 2003. If you paid state income tax after that you are due a big refund!
Home of record only applies to where you entered the military, and has NOTHING to do with taxes.

https://www.military.com/paycheck-chron ... ome-record

"A military service member's home of record is the place from which they entered the military. It is not necessarily "where they're from." For example, If I am from Maryland, but went to college in Florida and entered the military in Florida, then Florida is my home of record. Home of records don't change unless your information was entered incorrectly, or you leave the military and then rejoin. Homes of record are used for certain travel allowances, particularly when leaving military service. Military spouses do not have a home of record."

For example I was born in CT, moved to a bunch of different states (to include CA). I happen to join the Army when I was in IL. I paid tax for the state that I was located at the time (so federal only). Fortunately I was never stationed in a state with income tax. (Till now....fuck).

Take the phrase "Home of record", and pour bleach on it. :facepalm2:

I mostly grew up in California and was a registered voter till about 2006. Changed residency for taxes in 2005. Been a Washington voter since 2006. Even got picked for jury duty for California obviously for out of it.
