Just curious.
"Terraforming" another planet, like Mars seems to be just a given, anymore.
As in, everyone believes we could do such a thing.
Well, I have a question. If we can terraform Mars, why can't we terraform our own planet?
If we could terraform Mars, we should be able to make our deserts into farms. We certainly should be able to fix the 'climate change problem'.
If we can't do these smaller things on our own planet, what makes people think we can do it to whole other planets.
It's like claiming to be able to build a house while being incapable of hanging a door or changing a doorknob.

there is no climate change problem. It is climate, period. We either adapt or go extinct just like 99.99% of everything that has ever lived here

Get back to us when they have actually terraformed a different planet. So far it's all just sci-fi mumbo jumbo right?

There would be someone bitching about some insect getting killed off in a desert if we tried to actually use a desert for farming.

Better to drop a few hundred/thousand comets on Venus than try to make Mars work.

Well I was just reading about a study where they proposed to cover much of the Sahara desert with solar panels. Claimed they could make purt near half of all the electricity currently used GLOBALLY. AND the coverage of the desert floor would, get this, WARM the air (since the solar panels are dark in color and would heat up more than the sand) This WARMING, they said, would make the air rise and would bring about precipitation that would bring water and life to the desert. Hmmmm.... Global warming is killing us so let's warm up a good part of Africa MORE... So is warming bad or not? I'm corn-fused. https://www.pv-magazine.com/2018/09/10/ ... he-sahara/

We are already terra forming a planet, this one. Unfortunately "ad hoc" is a sub-optimal planning mode. On Mars, we'll have to plan better, hopefully learning the lessons from V1.

We can't even get people here to adapt to our changing climate much less terraform Mars.

You guys are missing the point...
First, you form a Terraforming Company.
Next, you form an untraceable PAC committee, or three.
Then, donate a bunch of money to politicians.
Next, you fund some studies saying how perfectly reasonable and necessary this endeavor is.
Then, sit back & bankroll all the money the government sends your way for further studies & implementation.
By the time it's unfeasibilty is admitted, 20 years have elapsed, and everyone has retired, fat & happy.

Bad news for the global warmists: A lack of sunspots, and the early arrival of a "solar minimum" could mean a mini-ice age is in the works much like the Maunder minimum that occurred in the middle ages. https://themindunleashed.com/2018/11/mi ... -cold.htmlGet those green houses in order.
