If it weren’t for Lamperts money sears would have been gone years ago. Wasn’t he the hedge fund manager that kept bailing them out? I too am very sad. My shop is full of craftsman tools. Sears and their goods were part of my life. Sad day for sure.

Walking into Lowe's tool section doesn't feel the same as when we were kids in Sear's tools.

Surprised they have hung around. Changing over to all Chinese crap kept me away tool wise. Then after our experience trying to purchase a stove and mattress from them vowed that was the end of us buying from them.

Chapter 11 gives debtors the opportunity to stay in business and to restructure their finances. Barring some limitations, both bankruptcies allow filers to modify their payment terms on secured debts, provide time to sell assets and eliminate obligations the filer cannot pay over the plan’s term.

Lampert offered to buy Kenmore for 400mil a couple years ago, Sears BOD rejected it. It's now worth less than 100mil.
There are going to be a lot (more) big empty boxes in malls across the USA.
And anybody who thinks that this Ch11 is just to restructure, wishful thinking. They are bleeding and will continue to bleed. Closing stores won't cover their debt. What it will do is allow them to offload a lot of their real estate investments at a quicker pace. Then, close all the leased areas.

This is heartbreaking in a way, for me. When I was little, we didn’t have any Walmart’s or targets within 150 miles of us. Not till I was a teenager at least. I remember doing most of my shopping as a kid at sears. School clothes? Sears, grandpa needed a new power tool, sears, grandma needed fabric for sewing, sears, hell my grandpa would drive the extra 20 miles to go to sears over going to k mart(he hated k mart).
Ima miss that place, but sadly I’m not shocked it’s going. It’s been going down hill for a long time. It’s sad.

Sears fucked me over on an online parts order for my Kenmore BBQ last summer.
In today's economy, you either adapt and move forward, or crawl to the side and die.

The arrival of the Sears Christmas catalog was a big event when I was a kid.

In today's economy, you either adapt and move forward, or crawl to the side and die. The sad part is the reason why they messed up your order. They cannot adapt when the leadership has a vision of personal profit at the demise of the company. Exactly. I loved Sears as a kid, but they have been circling the drain for a longtime.
