Reposting this from another forum, where it was originally uploaded by user Jackal: https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?t ... ks.842824/Quote: Beginning July 1, 2019, NICS will no longer extend the courtesy of completing a NICS check via telephone or electronically using E-Check for those purchasers with a CPL. Local law enforcement will be responsible for both the NICS checks and additional background checks for all handgun purchases, whether or not the purchaser possesses a CPL. Anyone have more information on this? The way it's worded, it sounds like an FBI mandate, not one of the WSP. But unless the FBI is singling out Washington specifically, that would mean it is soon to follow in other states as well. It’s also very possible this is classic buck-passing.

Ain't that a bitch? And who is supposed to pay the local LE to provide/conduct the checks? Or provide extra personnel and equipment to do so. They are just going to call NCIS. They are just introducing another hoop to jump through to mess with the gun owners.
There used to be some regulation preventing the Feds from mandating the states to perform duties without providing funding. That is how local LE was able to avoid this in the past citing lack of funding and manpower.

This sounds like something AG Side Job Bob Ferguson pushed.......
It almost does seem like they are jumping the gun on 1639 - so weasel worded.........anyone in WA remember (not that long ago) when 594 passed, some FFL's thought it meant holding period for all? It didn't. But also, CPL holders argued a CPL to CPL transfer should be allowed? The WA antigun crowd would have none of that. And actually they seem to have a special dislike for the CPL.....fackers

This is an obvious impairment combined with what was supposed to be consideration from the burdens of acquiring a CPL. Time to sue.

If I understand this right, it will cause problems for purchases at gun shows.

This isnt a decision made by WA state, this is a decision made by the FEDS. Changes are coming and I dont think we are gonna like them...

I wonder how that works if you don’t have a driver’s license.
