Goobermint provides water..... Usually. Goobermint charges for that water..... Goobermint now charges a tax on the water they provide..... Makes sense.

Not only that, they tax you on water they HAVEN'T provided. I have been gone from my house a total of 2 months this year. Traveling around the country with my travel trailer and dog. During each of those months the meter readings showed ZERO water use (I had the main valve shut off in the house as a safety measure). Still got a huge water bill with appropriate taxes from the City. Seems like I pay a huge "Meter Fee" as well as over $40/month for "Sewer". Water itself only costs me a buck/thousand gallons. The least expensive part of my "Water Bill". FWIW, this is what you get in a state that has no Income Tax. Government is forced to nickel and dime us with all the small taxes and fees as they have no other stable source of income to provide Roads, Police, Fire, and other services. As far as getting taxed on bottled water, not here. A one time purchase of a water filter and now I just drink from the tap.

Roads are supposed to be maintained/built with gas tax, vehicle excise tax, and vehicle registration fees.

How about some details? Location? Size? Residence? What where the major challenges and how did you overcome them? Pierce County / Carbonado area. 1,100 SF SIP home. 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath. Open floor plan with both beds up in a loft with a jack-n-jill restroom. Heating was low volt geothermal HP as primary with a pellet stove as secondary. Water lines were used throughout home as radiant heating. Propane tank as well for cooking. Sewer was treated with a normal gravity septic system Power was solar, battery bank system in outbuilding. Rumor has it, he has since upgraded the solar and gone to a tesla power wall. Water was designed for a large (500gallon) cistern with a 100gal bladder system. Water collection was roof (off of house and 3 out buildings). Property size was large, 20-30 acres if I recall. The key is that the property cannot be easily served by local utilities. When municipalities spend hundreds of millions to service an area with utilities, they will force you to connect. You'll never be able to disconnect from an area that has existing public services. Thank you. Unless you are outside of a "grid" area it is very hard to get these approvals.

You are “free” to buy property where you want. You buy in a municipality, you are bound to that municipality.
It’s like a grander version of people bitching about an HOA they bought into when they didn’t read the covenants.

Well/septic here. Free water intake/output. Although I was looking at the property plans the other day and the septic drain field is closer to the well than I would like.
Recycling???
