Too much restraint.

You backpedal, you trip over something, you fall, etc... Not gonna be a good day.

Stand your ground.

Security guard? Lol

Even though he did everything wrong (as you say) it's obvious he got the job done.

I'm somewhat shocked that our Seattle news media actually broadcasted the video as it showed how a gun in the hands of an ordinary citizen can be a good thing.

Anyone want to bet that this video is now being promoted all over the country by the NRA?

I'll try to find the video showing why you don't back up like that....

Agree. See knife, fire gun. Simple as that. Not a court in America (except SF) that will convict you.

I dunno. Cops got there. Bad guy detained. No further injuries. No one killed. Legally armed citizen won't have to pay outrageous legal fees just because he wanted to do the right thing.

Maybe not the best form, but it's about the best possible outcome.

P. The bad guy also got tased, dropped like a sack of potatoes, and probably pissed his pants. So I feel like that goes in the "W" column too!

Gun control fail.

Yep.

Interesting analogy...

Gun laws don't keep guns out of the hands of criminals any more than a restraining order protects a person from harm...

Now I wish he would have shot the focker. Millions in taxpayer money to put him life-in-prison-with-tv-and-hot-meals.
A .35 cent bullet would have saved you guys so much money.

#1 You are not in this guys shoes
#2 Have you ever had to take a life? It’s something I don’t wish on anyone. It’s something that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

He wasn't real serious about suicide by someone else shooting him. He never rushed the armed citizen, nor did he rush the LEOs. Just a cowardly POS who couldn't stand the thought of his ex keeping his kids. If he wanted to see his kids, pay support and get visitation.

This shows a total lack of understanding of how the system is stacked against fathers. It's a major factor in the growing MGTOW movement

I knew a man who was so screwed over by his evil ex that he committed suicide

Self Defense or Defense of Other, State pays legal fees if exonerated. This is why very few prosecutors file charges in cases of Self Defense (or others) when the facts are as clear as they are in this case.

Citizen used excellent judgement IMHO. Video doesn't show what was behind the knife wielding individual. Shooting may well have killed or injured any number of people behind him if a shot missed.

The way this citizen handled the situation, and himself when police arrived, was textbook perfect.

Sad but true. Now we'll have to foot the bill for a trial, pay ridiculous fees to defense lawyers who'll drag out the trial process and then endless appeals.

Maybe he should just be imprisoned in a women's prison and see if he survives among all those women who are also mothers.
