Hey all, need some opinions on the timing of buying a safe.
Do I wait for Black Friday since it’s so close or just buy it now with Veterans Day discounts??

I’m looking at a 32-40 gun safe, budget is about $1,600 delivered and installed.

For that matter, I’ve been doing some research, but any recommendations for that price range? +/- $300

NW Safe

Got a Liberty Fatboy Jr. 48 Gun Delivered and Installed for under $1600

That was a few years ago, but no sale pricing.

NW Safe. You won’t be sorry.

There are other options over NW safe but not in your price range.
Basically most of the consumer grade safes are all about the same. The big advantage is NW Safe knows what they are doing in delivery and install. Trying to do it yourself is an adventure and not worth it. Also if there is a problem NW Safe will take care of it.

Key to security in the safe is the thickness of the metal and Door jams, and how it's put together. Welded seems are far weaker than solid steel. And many time the door may be great but it the door jam strength that is key. Also, the tighter the fit of the door the harder it is for someone to break into it.

The other key is to prepare and if at all possible make sure you bolt that safe down correctly. Safes that can be tipped over are very easy to get into.
Oh and BTW ignore most of the so called hype about fire resistance. Get something reasonable but there is really no standard for the ratings that get touted. So don't pay more just because the exact same safe supposedly had a better fire rating.

Good luck on your purchase.

Thanks fellas, I appreciate the help!

Any ideas about timing? Should I wait for Black Friday or just get it now? I’d like to save a couple/few hundred if I can.

Call NW Safe. Ask them if you buy now and they blow out on BF, will they refund the difference?

since almost every consumer grade safe is imported or at least partly imported with the Tarrifs and cost of steel going up don't wait to long.
On the other side definitely wait for a sale but if the one you have settle on is on sale I would jump. Sure maybe you save another $50 on black Friday but then may again the one you wanted is not on sale.
At this point get an estimate for delivery, no matter which you get that is likely going to be about the same cost. Subtract that from what you want to spend and go figure out if you want Liberty, Winchester, or what ever brand. As most of know. If you can afford it. Bigger is better, you are going to fill it up!
Also, seriously consider getting a safe for the firearms and another for the Ammo. You do not want to mix if possible. (Why? In a fire the ammo is likely to go off and all those chemicals with the water vaporizing from the plaster board fire protection makes for a toxic mix that will damage those firearms and most everything else in the safe.
My main safe is for firearms and critical documents and real jewelry not being used. The other safes are for ammo and the ready pistols.

One thing to think about is how you want the shelves and dividers to work. If the safe says its a 32 guns safe divide that number in half. That's the reasonable number you will ever get in. Take about 25% less than that and that how many the safe will hold. The only way to get that 32 number would be if all your rifles were granddad's 22lr and hunting rifles. If a rifle has a scope or target stock or bipods, or hand grip or ..... It's going to take up way more than 1 slot!
Also, make sure you get or plan to have carpeting around the interior. also make sure the shelves and rifle stands are secure in the safe if they are wobbly move on or find out why!
For my bigger safe I prefer to have the W style rack instead of the U shaped. Mine has two U rifle rack with shelves in between. I like it but it does get tight in the storage area. If you can test putting thing in and out do so!
Also, think about which direction you want the door to open, left or right. Most of the swing out from the right side. That would never have worked where I have the main safe, so mine has a left side open so door swings to the right.
Feel free to PM me if you want or have questions. I spent a bunch of time investigating and planning before I got my main safe 3 years ago. Even with all the planning there are a few things I would do differently were I to do it again.

Good point forgot about that! Most likely they will! They are that kind of business.

This is a Cannon 64 gun safe: https://gun.deals/node/593866

For $750. You can have it delivered to your local Tractor Supply (there's one in Monroe).

Don't know anything else about it.

Northwest Safe. Solid guys. Safe prices are negotiable.

I have a liberty colonial that is 2 years old. About to sell it in the spring. It holds 24 rifles. (more if you're creative)
60 min burn time
60.5" x 30" x 25"
PM me if you can wait until April.

Definitely a Liberty from NW Safe. I got a new one last Black Friday for a smoking deal. I'd wait.

Just remember.....When it comes to safes, you get what you pay for.....PERIOD

Ask yourself how and/or why a company can sell a Cannon 64 gun safe for $750 when another brand can cost is excess of $5000.

Construction method, design and material makes all the difference.

The Cannon safe may fit your needs or it may fall short.
Only you know the answer to that question.

Go to NW Safe and have them break it down for you.
That is the best advice I can give you.

Look for the longest fire rating and largest capacity is my suggestion.

Took 3 people to get my 20 gun safe upstairs to my room I know I should bolt it in but I figured if a crook can get that thing down my stairs without killing himself and getting away with it he has earned it. I helped my dad put his 50 gun cannon safe in his bedroom. Just getting that empty beast up 3 steps made me think that $100 installation fee back then was cheap. Don’t skimp on delivery and installation. Back surgery is way more expensive.
