Full title:

Dozens of US spies killed after Iran and China uncovered CIA messaging service using Google
https://www.yahoo.com/news/dozens-us-spies-killed-iran-021003000.html

Quote:
Dozens of American spies were killed in Iran and China after a flawed communications service that allowed foreign foes to see what the agents were up to using Google, official sources have claimed.

Between 2009 and 2013 the US Central Intelligence Agency suffered a “catastrophic” secret communications failure in a website used by officers and their field agents around the world to speak to each other, according to a report in Yahoo News, which heard from 11 former intelligence and government officials about the previously unreported disaster.

Report from the day before:
The CIA's communications suffered a catastrophic compromise. It started in Iran
https://in.news.yahoo.com/cias-communications-suffered-catastrophic-compromise-started-iran-090018710.html?guccounter=1

Quote:
One of the largest intelligence failures of the past decade started in Iran in 2009, when the Obama administration announced the discovery of a secret Iranian underground enrichment facility — part of Iran’s headlong drive for nuclear weapons. Angered about the breach, the Iranians went on a mole hunt, looking for foreign spies, said one former senior intelligence official.

The mole hunt wasn’t hard, in large part, because the communications system the CIA was using to communicate with agents was flawed. Former U.S. officials said the internet-based platform, which was first used in war zones in the Middle East, was not built to withstand the sophisticated counterintelligence efforts of a state actor like China or Iran. “It was never meant to be used long term for people to talk to sources,” said one former official. “The issue was that it was working well for too long, with too many people. But it was an elementary system.”

A lot of people were killed because the CIA was lazy and complacent under a President that hated them. That’s what I got out of the story. Not a good way to develop assets. I certainly wouldn’t trust them if I lived in a country where they shot you for just speaking out of turn.

First thing that popped in my mind. The perfect president and the perfect administration.

.....and Google was hired by China to secure their internet and filter out undesirable results, and somehow china learns about a Google involved CIA operation?

Coincidence?

Wish I could say it was but I doubt it.

I believe that when they said they used Google they mean that they literally just "googled" the results. That's how unsecure the system was

Google working with China does bring up another interesting point. Employees at Google protested involvement in programs for the Pentagon because of ethics concerns

https://www.cnet.com/news/google-pulls-out-of-competition-for-10b-pentagon-cloud-contract/

I guess they want to go with China, where AI with definitely be used unethically, because China shares their values? WTF

Also, Obama didn't lift a finger to free US hostages and prisoners around the world. A US Marine languished in Mexican jail, a US college student effectively died in NK, hostages in Iran and elsewhere.

Trump has done a lot of good getting US prisoners and hostages out, securing the remains of US Soldiers from the Korean war, and is working to get Dr. Shakil Afridi (the prisoner in Pakistan who informed on Osama Bin Laden) out.

Obama really did hate America I'm afraid to say...

Decades

This has set us back DECADES

Not only is the network gone in China and Iran it's going to take years, if not decades to get it back (if that's possible)

What sickens me the most about all of this is that it isn't all over the news right now (besides 60+ people being tortured/imprisoned/killed). Besides yahoo and some British new sights that reference yahoo there's nary a mention

The MSM has gone well past just being 'biased' towards democrats. By not reporting this it's a tacit fist bump to the democrats
