A West Seattle business says it's dealing with a huge volume of trash being thrown on its property. The West Seattle Health Club blames homeless people and a group of RV residents who live nearby. But now, the city is telling the club -- clean up the trash, or pay up.

The club says it’s been dealing with the trash problem all year. After the nearby residents kept filling up the club's dumpster, Davis said waste management brought a bigger dumpster.
...
The club’s vice president of operations, Dan Lehr, said its trash bill has increased by $500 per month.

The club has installed a 7-foot fence to prevent access to the dumpsters.

Now it says the RV residents started have throwing trash around the fence and into the bushes behind the club.
...
Plus the club is still dealing with the aftermath of a van that crashed into its building two weeks ago, setting one wall of the club on fire.

The club says it was a van-turned-RV and had been parked nearby for months before it crashed through the wall and put the club's pool room out of commission.

The Department of Construction and Inspection said the club is responsible for the trash dumped on its property because municipal code requires owners to maintain their property. It gave the example, if someone dumps a couch on your front lawn, though unfortunate, you are still responsible for getting rid of it.

So if anyone has anything they want to get rid of, I think I know when to dump it. The city of Seattle just put the onus on the dumpee in stead of the dumper

The residents will ultimately pay for it's removal.

Their tax revenue doubled in 10 years, they can afford it.

Is this the same business that due to Non-Licensed Transient RV Parking put up the No Parking signs and were told by The City to take them down or be fined.

https://q13fox.com/2018/11/02/seattle-w ... backwards/

Seattle City/Council has reached a whole new 'We're gonna be an Asshole' high.

So Seattle finally found a law they want to actually enforce?

They only inforce laws against people who pay taxes. If they can afford taxes they can afford to pay fines and tickets.

Discovered in some recent reading why RV's are a major problem on city streets, beside the obvious.

When an RV reaches the end of it's life and has no more market value they are often sold for just a few bucks to homeless. The recycling yards don't really want them because they don't have much to recycle. What's left is often considered "hazardous waste" and expensive as hell to get rid of.

Cities that pass ordinances to remove them from City streets are having a hard time finding tow companies to actually remove them. If they do tow one they have to have a storage/impound yard to store them. After a statutory period of time has passed they can then auction the RV's off. Guess who buys them. Either homeless or "entrepreneurs" who purchase them, tow them to a place on a City street, and then rent them to homeless for whatever they can afford. After a while the cycle repeats with an impound, auction, sale, and again parked on a city street.

Solution?

Raise enough funds to pay a reasonable fee to tow the derelicts and if deemed un-salvagable due to damage, contamination, etc, have it crushed and sent to a land fill. In the end it would be cheaper than continually dealing with the endless supply of junkers on the street.

Of course another option would be to merely tow the pieces of shit, along with occupants, to councilperson Sawant's neighborhood and let them reside there. Double park them in front of her house for emphasis.

The only problem with this "theory" is parking them in front of her house. Per city code, if you actually park them in her yard, then she has to pay for removal and cleanup.

Seattle, where vagrants and drug users are "good people," and the police and businesses are "a problem."

Then "yard it is".
