..............

My guess the sit down customers are predominantly under 30 and over 60

Neither of which do the mask thing well.

Transmission of Covid would spell the end to that Fast Food location.

And theres always the threat of a Karen Report.

There doesn't appear to be anything preventing them seeing as how restaurants are open for sitdown. I know the Five Guys has sit down tables since a few months ago. My guess is that 80/20 they make their money out of takeout these days since no one is looking for the "novelty" experience of sitting down for a fast food meal.

They might for a real restaurant but if you need to do all these protocols for enhanced sanitation, you might just say screw it if you are running a Taco Time and save that money.

Agreed. I spoke to a McD’s manager. He said they aren’t doing dine in because sales are up and overhead (labor costs) are down.
Also keeps the vagrants out.

This is my understanding:

the county needs to apply to the phase II and sometimes it gets modified a bit.
They need to come up with a plan to get all businesses up to speed on the requirements. Might affect the fact Seattle minimal wage is higher making it hard to have the state required setup (requires more employees sometimes).
The evaluation considers the covid cases seen in the county and population density which I think its the major factor keeping king county on a half way phase I/II "with modifications" they call it.
Its all public health management. Yes, politics play a role I would agree.

IMHO, just another side effect/backlash of the raised minimum wage laws and mandatory insurance. Let's face it, McDonalds and other similar national employers have been looking for ways to cut down on staffing by installing self serve kiosks, cutting employee hours resulting in fewer full time and more part time with no mandatory insurance needing to be provided, etc.

This virus has just confirmed the fact that their businesses can in fact succeed on drive through only saving labor costs and facility management costs (cleaning supply's, furniture costs, etc). My wife and I were talking just last week that we would not be surprised if those businesses stay drive through only, and any future stores and remodels will result in smaller locations, thereby also saving big dollars in real estate needs.
