Saturday night out at the RAM.

Cocktail menu has a Tito's Lemondrop Martini...$8.00.

I order a straight Tito's martini, easy on the vermouth. When I get the bill, it's $11.00.

When I ask the manager to "clarify", he tried really hard, but it was like trying to watch a kindergartner explain quantum mechanics. "Blabidi-blabidi-blabidi...." sort of rolled out of his pie hole.

So, I asked if I could order a Lemondrop Martini, hold the lemon stuff, and save three bucks. Nope, not allowed.

I was in rare form, so I pushed the envelope.

I said "So, me, as the Customer, wants to order a Lemondrop and hold the lemon, and you will refuse me?"

"Blabidi-blabidi-blabidi..."

But, in the end, he caved, and "took care of me"..."this one time"...

Douchebaggery of an establishment.

Yup, sounds about right. I was there once. Ordered a chamborg kamikaze, and i said, "Can you just pour it in a normal glass instrad of an unstable martini glass?"

Got the bill.... almost twice the price. I asked why there was the additional charge, and the waitress said, "Thats the 'RAM UP' price." "Ram it up what?" I asked. She said that asking for the drink in the tall glass meant i wanted a double or more alcohol, so they had to charge more. I almost argued, but I decided to vote with my feet. Never heen back.

If it's a steakhouse, and they put coupons in the Sunday paper, avoid like the plague. Get a nice cut and cook it yourself.

Now, an El Gaucho or similar place...sure, knock yourself out. But don't try and go cheap, it won't work.

That's funny...2011 is the only other time we'd been there. Decided to give it another go....now we'll just "go" by it.

The nerve of charging $8+ for a drink is almost asking customers to not come back. This isn't a NYC nightclub, it's a family sports bar!!! If I'm paying $10 for a drink, you're going to make it precisely how I tell you to make it.

Yeah, between the costs of drinking out and not wanting a DUI to pay for a Uber, I almost never go out to drink anymore. The prices are absurd, and the drinks usually suck.

Just bought a gallon of whiskey and enjoying a quiet night in. Costs less and is less hassle than a single bar tab.

You guys are wound tight. A straight martini is straight vodka, light vermouth. A lemon drop is part vodka, mostly cheap filler. Straight martini costs more because it has more of the most costly ingredient. The Tito's vodka.

If you ordered a lemon drop hold the lemon and they brought you a 1/2 full glass and say "we held the lemon, here's the remaining vodka" would you be happy? There's a lot of reasons to complain about The RAM, but this isn't one of them.

Where did you buy a gallon of whiskey? I see it sold in pint, fifth, and half gallon. I'd be interested in finding your gallon of whiskey source. You know, for scientific purposes. Not because I'm an alcoholic.

Well, I was drunk at the time and was seeing double 1/2 gallons... :ROFLMAO:

And the "ingredients" are 2 shots of vodka at a wholesale cost of about 50 cents. Let's call it $2.

That's a massive markup, considering the customer is tipping the server/bartender anyway.

It's expensive. Sure. How much do you charge per billable hour Mr. Lawyer?

Well, considering my services quite often save folks multi-million dollar careers/retirements and or keep them out of prison, my few thousand dollar fee is quite a good bargain. I have literally done this, many many times.

Paying a 500% markup on a drink because some attractive woman in a low cut shirt (only friendly to you because you are giving her money) poured it into a glass is hardly a bargain...

Went to the RAM in the U village. Asked for a mudslide but blended. Got a martini. Drank it. Asked for another one and explained what I wanted more in depth. Got mudslide on the rocks. Drank it. Finally the bartender comes over and asks exactly what I want. I explain it again. He brings out a blended mudslide. Comes back later to ask me how it is. I forget what but it wasn't prefect but I said I was ok with it. He brings out another one perfectly the way I wanted. Got 4 mudslides only paid for two. Decided to stay for an extra hour to play their Trivia game and sober up. I had no complaints and thought it was a bit comical. So, I've got no problem with the Ram

I see your frustration tho and it was explained by Sinus above as to why it was more.

And boo to when poopoo on the mark up at a restaurant. They aren't cheap to run and a huge risk to fall. I don't eat or drink out often but I understand the economics of it. Can't understand why some people can't.

I thought this was a thread about the cost of beer at Safeco/Clink.
