My wife said on the way home from sushi dinner last night, we must stop at Target. OK fine...ugg........she shops for womanly things, I hit the wine aisle, just expecting trash....well they had a couple drinkable selections on sale.......bought 3 bottles.

Checking out, my wife doing the purchases, get carded. 59 year old slender women enjoy that sort of thing. Clerk takes WA Enhanced DL, scans it (!), then I see a list of names on the screen and the wife's name is added..........pay leave.......

I had my Enhanced scaned at a small store on the exit to Custer Gun Club when I bought beer.

I didn't like it and wont go back for that kind of purchase.

I thought the guy was just checking all ID due to Company policy and then he scans without asking.

I thought it was because I was so close to the Canada border.

Uncomfortable to say the least.

So is this now a state thing???

Exactly. Just the one box in the PDF. Does not seem like a state mandated thing, IE it's a store thing.

its not the scanning of my ID that is an issue - its what happens to the data once they scan it........

7-11 has been scanning the barcode thingamajig on the back of my license with beer purchase for at least a couple years now....

It’s part data collection and part because any employee under 30 can’t figure out the age on your birthdate because of the new math......

I use passport card, scanner won’t read it anywhere I’ve been.

I quit going to 7-11 when I found out they were adding a couple bucks to my credit card purchases

Anytime I'm asked for ID for a purchase, it doesn't come out of holder unless for a firearm purchase. Some grubby little clerk has no need to paw my license with their booger stained fingers...
AFAIK there is no law that says you have to allow any store to scan your dl, enhanced or not. I get enough crap in the mail or e-mail , and don't need every shit-box retailer collecting my info and purchase habits for use or sale...
If wrong about the law , please correct me...
