My son Chris and I, and his dog Huey, went over to Moses Lake last weekend for our annual goose hunt. We managed to shoot a limit of honkers, in spite of the fact that I'm not as fast out of a lay down blind as I used to be

The next day we went out and got a few ducks. Had to break ice to put out the dukes. Getting cold over there

Are you sure those are Canadian geese? They look like Mallard ducks to me.

How do those canadian geese taste?

They are more fun to shoot than to eat. Best thing is to cook the breasts like pot roast

Dog had ice on his whiskers. Glad I wasn’t out there swimming through ice water after dead ducks

Did they have bands? If not, they are clearly undocumented.

I'm actually surprised that more people don't hunt these. Is the meat any good? I've heard mixed reviews.

I’ve only breasted them and used this recipe:

1 bottle Russian dressing
1 package onion soup mix
1 can whole cranberry sauce

Mix and pour over breasts in a baking dish. Bake uncovered @350 for 1 hour. Serve over rice.

Nice job!!!!
They are fantastic, taste a little like liver but I love em.
I prepare a recipe called Swiss Cheese Duck (works with geese) just cut the breasts into smaller pieces.
I miss waterfowl huntin but I quit when WDFW cut the season to 3 days a week to extend the season (hunting when there are no birds)!!! icon_eek I hate hunting & fishing on the weekends when everyone & their cousin are out there.
