You may have noticed that the mod team has started adding "MOD EDIT" notes in some threads, primarily in the classifieds. They'll look something like this:
MOD EDIT: PM sent about thread title.
-or-
MOD EDIT: PM sent about location.
We do this when we send a PM to the thread owner about something that needs to be addressed in the thread. We add the note in the thread so that other mods won't "pile on" with PMs about the same issue.
Just a heads-up in case anyone was wondering what those notes were, or why we do them . . . .

Just wanted to say that I usually try to include the date I added the mod edit, so that anyone can see when the request was made. It helps everyone see which members might not be monitoring their WTB/WTS threads and it's also an easy way for the mods to know if a member isn't responding to requests.

As a child of the 1970's I think that MOD SQUAD would have a much nicer ring to it than MOD EDIT Especially so if we can get a Smilie with a big curly doo

Back on the serious side, here...
Good idea.
But.
If this is going to become some sort of 'evidence", or 'history' or whatever... To be referenced later...
Are you able to/going to, lock just that particular post from being edited from that point on?
If not, what if the OP comes back and edits it again, and deletes your green 'tag'?

If not, what if the OP comes back and edits it again, and deletes your green 'tag'? It's not about evidence. If the note gets deleted after the problem gets rectified, that's fine.

If not, what if the OP comes back and edits it again, and deletes your green 'tag'? It's not about evidence. If the note gets deleted after the problem gets rectified, that's fine. "Evidence" may not be the best word here. But I couldn't think of another word that meant something that is left in place, and then watched. Which is pretty much what you and Mislabeled both said. "It's there so others don't pile on." "I put a date on, so we can see who isn't responding, etc." It makes sense that having that "marker" disappear after a resolve of the situation, doesn't make much difference. I didn't suggest that it would. Maybe "marker" would have been a better word than "evidence" to use, but that's what I meant. And the suggestion is still the same. Once you put the marker on, wouldn't it make sense to make sure it stayed there, until the situation IS resolved? I have yet to see anyone make the effort to remove a mod note but not make whatever change was requested. If someone gets a request to update their title or price info or whatever, and they do so and also remove the mod note while they're at it, it actually saves us a step. The primary purpose of the note is so the member's inbox isn't jammed with PMs that are all about the same thing. (Think of the TPS report from Office Space.)
My comment about the date was more related to being able to quickly see if the issue was noted earlier that same day or if it had been days (or in some cases weeks) since the member had been back to their thread.

Bout time I think it's good form for all post edits to have an edit reason. You'll see a ton of my posts that have an "Edit: " line. I guess imitation is the most sincerest form of flattery, after all... MOD EDIT: PM sent about compensationEdit: It's about time.....
