I broke my own rule of making sure to keep things out of sight in my vehicle while unattended, and I paid for it. :angryfire:

I went to Burien Fred Meyer yesterday around 2pm and spent $216 on groceries. Left there, swung by the fuel station and headed home. On my way out of the parking lot I remembered the wife said she wanted Mozzarella which I forgot so I figured I would swing by the Safeway on my way home. The whole time driving there I had second thoughts based on the fact I had over $200 in bagged groceries sitting on the floor behind the front seats, but I talked myself into it. I figured that the widow tint would help and me only being in for a few minutes at most wouldn't be bad.

Got a parking spot about 15 spots from the front door, with a brand new Camry already parked on my drivers side and an empty spot on my passenger side. Set the alarm, went in, walked directly to the cheese section, grabbed it, hit the UScan and I was out in about 5 minutes.

As I get out the door I see my truck's rear passenger door wide open so I take off running to it and see my groceries all over the empty parking spot thrown about with not a person in sight. Nobody is inside, Camry still parked next to me, no car driving away, nobody walking, nobody on a bike, nobody sitting in a nearby car, nothing, nada. What. The. Fuck. I quickly scan for what was taken, and they sifted through everything and took the higher dollar items only. Tide pods, steak, bacon, vitamins, mixed nuts to name a few.. I went inside and talked to the manager, but the cameras apparently don't cover that area. I drove around the parking lot, behind the store, behind a few side streets hoping to see something but struck out.

After totaling up my losses the fucking thieves got me for $114 in groceries, not including whatever the lock is going to cost me. I had a $10 scratch ticket, two NIB Glock mags, and a knife in the center console that went untouched.

Oh boy I wish I would have caught that asshole or assholes in the act.

Ex wives son in law lived in a shitty apartment in Kent.
Few years ago someone broke his car window to steal a single cigarette he left on the dash.
Said he always left his car unlocked so thieves wouldn't break his windows, this time they didn't even bother trying the door.

Yeah, it's all on reality TV these days.

L_O_G, I'm really sorry this happened. I know how much it sucks.

Would that make it OK to break in?

Nothing makes it ok.

I just don't see how it would have been a target so quickly just for a "maybe" score.

If it had some gun related stickers in the windows that might explain a motivation for such a quick break in.

It does seem odd, especially since he didn't do his shopping there. I mean if they saw him load the Groceries and then go back in the Store it would make more sense.
Just a one off "lucky" prowl by the Parasites? . Sorry to hear that L_O_G. ....You're a good guy.

If it was the Safeway in Burien I asked about, that place is a shithole.

The transit center right there has a constant flow of vagabonds looking for free shit.

I used to get our pet supplies in that shopping center, but quit because of all the shifty folks walking around there.

My driveway has been hit three times in 6 years. (I had some nice stuff stolen out of my driveway, and two different girls spending the night left valuables in their cars and left their doors unlocked and got hit.) My neighbors front porch and yard has had thievery too and same neighbor had his gas siphoned from his tank. I've heard of a new scam to cut parts of the underside of cars and sell them. People are ballsy.

About 15 years ago I was in another state and met a girlfriend at our local gym. I was going to her place afterwards, so had packed an overnight bag. Bag included all sorts of expensive stuff, including handgun, and had a handgun in the glovebox too. Had a big full CD wallet, and other valuables. I forgot my gym padlock, so figured my bags were safer in the car than in the unlocked locker. I should have just skipped the gym.

Barely into working out an intercom pages several sets of car license plate owners to come to the front. I think about 4 cars, including mine and my girlfriend, got hit. She had a new digital camera stolen, and I was cleaned out of everything including guns. And we also got the gift of $200 broken windows to contend with. I learned to not leave anything of value - particularly a "truck gun" in the vehicle. :angryfire: :angryfire: :angryfire: :angryfire: :angryfire: :angryfire: :angryfire:
