Just a question pertaining to this;
Can a person that grows and uses mary jane legally have a conceal and carry permit? I'd kind of lean toward considering use of something legal in the state where the form was filled out as an affirmative defense. Lots of things are legal in one state and illegal in others. This is why our concealed carry laws are screwed up. Carry legally in a state where you have a CPL but step over the line into a state like CA and suddenly you are a criminal if you are carrying both your firearm and a permit they don't recognize. As for those who pose as police and attempt to gain entry to a home, another reason why a "Video Doorbell" or CCTV camera is almost a requirement today. DO NOT open the door if you don't know who's there. If the party(s) claim to be police just say "Just a minute" and then call 911. A simple statement like "there are people at my door claiming to be police officers. Are they real or not. Give the address and dispatch will contact them immediately. If real the operator will tell you they are. If not then REAL police officers are going to be dispatched. Oh yeah, a good deadbolt with reinforced door frame will help keep them out. This is starting to become SOP around the country, calling 911 to see if the people claiming to be police are the real deal. A few instances have even been caught on "Cops" and "Live PD" where officers are cooling their heels while getting messages from dispatch that they are on the phone with a resident who refuses to open the door. The feds modified the 4473 to say that marijuana is still illegal under federal law regardless of what your state laws are. |
