I want to put a roof over my deck. It's about 20X15. It will be built so I can eventually convert it to a sun room. My question is, do I need a permit and inspections? I will be selling this house and moving to a more red state after retirement. Thank you!

In This state you cant shit in a bucket in your back yard without a permit for a guest bathroom. I bet you do. You in a rural area or stacked housing? Is this just a simple shed roof coming off of the back wall of the house, or.....
Trying to avoid a permit can get you in trouble down the line, but if built right will end up being the common fine which is 2x permit fees. The reason why a permit is important is for the inspection process. I assume you will be connecting this to your existing house. Flashing, counter-flashing, positive connections etc. All that is looked at, by an outside person (the inspector) along the way. If it's a simple build and you KNOW what you are doing, or have full faith in another's ability then rolling the permit dice is a viable option. |

if its not Permanently attached to house no permit. (bolt) it and its removable
