Now that ive had a better chance to check out the jeep in the morning light, looks like passenger side fenders, freedom panels, maybe the hard top, driver door and side mirrors will be replaced. Got a good scratch in the bumper but i was planning on replacing those with the tax refund anyway. Oddly enough, if i did hit the deer the jeep would have been worse off i think.

I try to run them down! In 25 years Ive not hit one yet. (knocks on wood)r
It seems when your gunning for them they run, but when you swerve or brake they try to jump right into you!
Glad your ok. Good luck with the rig.

I've hit deer, had them hit me, and shared blame with them in equal portions. I don't know who to blame for this one... So I share since I hit him with the front of the vehicle. viewtopic.php?f=33&t=60035&Had all my children in our Suburban driving up to the cabin and we saw a nice big buck standing about 30 feet off the road in a clearcut. It was blacktail country (SWW), but this was a big one, looked more like a Muley. As we approached, I could sense something funny in the situation, and sure enough the dumb fuck took off as only a buck deer can directly for us. Never seen the like... I said something to the kids like "He's going to hit us" and the kids all started clamoring ... Kind of a good memory. haha *crash*, the dumb fucking buck put a great big dent in the rear passenger door and rocked that heavy Burb hard. I stopped and hopped out with my knife in hand ready to do battle and put that dumb fuck in the freezer to help offset the cost/effort of the body work that was coming my way, but he was already back on his feet and laughing as he headed into the thick trees on the other side of the road. The time I grazed the biggest tallest cow elk is another story. That dumb cow just stood there as I tried everything I knew to shed energy before we hit while towing ~20k pounds on a trailer behind us. The animals in northern Montana generally don't seem to give a hoot about cars, or even people until hunting season.

I've found that if the idiot is in your lane just standing there staring at you, flash your lights on/off a few times. They move then. Can't help the suicidal ones.

Just a reminder for those about to hit an animal. DON'T.SWERVE.
Dead animals suck, dead people suck more. I know, hard to resist the urge to avoid hitting something, but it's the right thing to do. Ditto with cars about to hit you.... (Unless it's something like a head on hit from a tractor trailer).. Take the hit, it's a known quantitative value, swerving sends you out of control and leads to bad things. I've seen what would have been a sideswipe fender bender turn into a life altering accident because of people swerving.... and no, I'm not saying he swerved and caused the accident, I'm just reminding people not to swerve.... Stupid deer..

These big city folk...SMH
If youre going to wreck your Jeep for an animal, at least make sure it end up in your freezer! I totaled mine in April hitting an Elk, bet your ass it didnt go to waste!
Just giving you a hard time Dan. Glad you are ok. You can always replace vehicles and other things, cant replace people.

When I get this house in WA finished, my life changes. Montana will see more than the 50% of my family that it sees now. You'll be welcome out, hunting season or not.

Glad you are ok. I see plenty of cars up here that have hit deer and elk, in fact both my wife and myself have hit deer up here. Hers was way worse than mine, we ended up getting new cars out of the deal.
