Brazil is much the same. I know about 15 people in Brazil. They all have at least 2 firearms, all pistols. It is just in violation of the law but they are of the opinion that they would rather deal with the law after the fact, than be 6 ft under. All however do not live in Rio or Sao Paulo, they live out in the country a bit.

As was also mentioned, there certainly will be some unintended consequences as firearms go to the general public in the big cities. And yes, the libs will milk every piece of bad news for all it is worth. Count on it.
