Get out there and take a look . . . the moon is pretty dark right now, at least from Vegas.

It's a little hazy, but that's probably just the dirty hotel windows and/or the bottle of tequila.

Tonight is cold. But we have spent a lot of time watching the Super Wolf Blood moon.. At present it is at total eclipse and deep dark red. living here on the Long Beach Peninsula we get a good view of the sight.

Still clear on Whidbey. I can see why early folks may have seen a wolf image.

Took some eclipse pictures. Experimented with 2 cameras (Nikon D50 w/ 85-200 lens, and Sony Cybershot SLR with Carl Zeiss 16x zoom) using various settings, ISO, F stops, etc. Fortunately the night was clear until right after the last shot, then the moon disappeared behind clouds and heavy damp fog.

This was an actual challenge for these cameras with the distance and steadiness on tripods, and pushed the lenses and settings to their extremes.

It is truly a marvel that you can photograph a planet 238,900 miles away with relatively inexpensive equipment. Was a cold night. Thankfully a glass of Kentucky bourbon kept me warm.

4 representative pics from a pile of great ones.

Not too shabby LC, i especially like the last one. I had a fair view of it tonight, but was wishing i was somewhere without the Light pollution.

I'm not a big Astronomy buff, but it was pretty cool.

Saw two shooting stars as a bonus. The view from Whidbey was amazing.

That's no moon!

With my 600mm equivalent lens and no post processing.
Click on it and you can see stars as well.
Pretty cool, first eclipse that I've photographed.
